Hi
I been wanting a epiphone dot for a very long time but I want a guitar that I can upgrade, I want to put a set of Seymour Duncan whole lotta humbuckers inside and new CTS pots, but I am worried that the CTS push-pull that I wanted (links below) will not fit through the f-hole and I don't want to open a hole in the guitar.

Please help.

Your links don't work.

But, if they are the pots I'm thinking of, I don't think you will get them into a dot.

1) forget about CTS pots, the alphas or whatever is in there will be fine
2) it's a hollowbody, if you're not a supreme masochist you'll clip the pickup wires in the pickup cavities under the pickups and solder new pickups to existing wiring there
3) don't be a supreme masochist
4) use something else for your coil tapping needs...maybe triple shot rings?

PS between the new Dot and the buckers, that ain't cheap at all... consider throwing same money at a NIICE used Made in Japan hollowbody instead of the Chinese Epiphone. Just a thought.

Well it's because I want to get a new guitar that I could slowly mod. I know it's weird but I like doing projects like this. That's why I wanted to asked that if the epiphone dot is a good guitar to mod.

I put these same pots in my Schecters; as a forewarning, the holes for the pots will have to be drilled out a bit because the Epiphone is an import guitar, and the pots are made for U.S. guitars. Given that the guitar is a semi-hollow, I'm not sure how safe it is to do yourself; I'd recommend getting a luthier's advice at very least. They are fantastic pots, though.

Well I do have some experience with CTS pots about drilling a hole thru the guitar, I did it with my "made in Korea Les Paul", but I just want to know that the epiphone dot is upgradable or not, I just want to get a upgradable guitar I'm still worried that if I bought it I will have problems upgrading the pots because I know you how to install it through the f- hole that just worries me

Re: Need help will push-pull CTS pot fit in my epiphone dot?

As I recollect , the stock pots on the LTD Edition Dot are not that bad.

If you are looking for an excelent Alnico 1V budget pup that works well in a semi hollow body like the Dot have a look at these.

I have installed several and they are surprisingly good. There are also some good reveiws on both You Tube and elsewhere.

Unless you have tons of patience and are methodical and well organised I would very much go along with Adieu's advice. Semi Hollowbody's can be a real pain to work on.

Are these things European or Chinese?

Interesting model list.... Duncan and DiMarzio clones?

I'm *thinking* they will fit. I'm also thinking it won't be fun. Sounds like a problem for the tech!

I've got some stacked concentric ones I'm putting in a dot. The eyeball test when held up to the side says yes.

They were made in the UK . I think the Premier range stil is.

I and my acquaitances have personal experience of several of their Humbuckers over many tears. In particular ,The Tesla Sharks,The Rolling Mills, The Blues Engine and the Dirty Torque. All do what it says on the tin. Also very helpful people to deal and are claimed to have good after sales service although I have never had to use it. I have the Blues Engine neck is several of my own guitars.

I strongly suspect the Blues Engine is a copy of the Tonerider A4 which itself has had some pretty good reviews.

If you are looking for a good guitar to have fun modding, the dot isn't it. I would recommend a Strat.

If you MUST have a semi hollow with coil splits, try a LP Florentine or an Alleykat.
