Need help with humbucker pickup selection on chambered alder tele...

I'm making my first guitar and need advice on bridge pickup.

1) Chambered alder tele body with flamed maple top.
2) Warmoth maple tele neck.
3) Entire guitar is tuned down a whole step. D,G,C,F,A,D
4) Play Social D / Motorhead type rock, marshall gain but not over the top distortion

Mike from social distortion uses a duncan SP90-3 custom p-90 and phil campbell from motorhead used a few different duncans from my brief google research, but most notable the JB/59 set which was featured in his LAG S1000PC.


I don't think you can go wrong with a JB in alder for what you're after, so my recommendation is the JB.

I don't think you can go wrong with a JB in alder for what you're after, so my recommendation is the JB.

The other side of this would be which of these artists you want to sound more like. If you are leaning more Social D I might lean more towards the PAF sort of tone. I mean you are not going to get that close with a bolt on maple/alder and humbucker, but it might be in the same neighborhood.
