*Need Opinions fast!* 1972 Bassman Ten

One is for sale locally(not sure on the price yet) and I might be able to score it if the price is right. The music I play is Classic Rock/Blues Rock with a fair bit of Psych thrown in. I will be using a pedal to drive it(Diamond Pedals Fireburst) and wil be using the amp for a clean sound/maybe edgey.

What do these usually go for? And what kind of sounds can I expect?

One just sold on ebay for $549. Worth it? That's up to you. Some people buy an amp then decide they would have even paid double because the tone is so "them". As far as resale value, that will probably only increase with time as long as you don't trash the amp.

Here's another currently for auction. I've never heard one so I can't comment on that, but it will probably sound pretty good in a Fender way.

ive had mine for about 10 years and it wasnt until now that its needing an overhaul but its a cool amp ive used several pedals and its worked great mines a 73

Ahhhh! That's a shame. I've been there a few times myself. You'll get'em next time though. It's tough when you don't know if you're getting a deal or getting taken.

Yeah. It's a real bummer, I am on currently still on the prowl for a new amp. I will snag the next one for sure :burnout:

I woudn't sweat missing out on it...Bassman 10 amps are only so so anyway...at least to me. I don't think they are good guitar or bass amps...on top of that they are all CBE era and the wiring is pretty sloppy, the stock speakers were a joke and they are heavy as hell...Just my 2 cents but there are a load of better amp out there.

I woudn't sweat missing out on it...Bassman 10 amps are only so so anyway...at least to me. I agree...OK but not great amps. No relation to the tweed version. Totally differant circuit. Don't go searching for another one or anything.

Keep your eyes open for a early 70's non master volume Super Reverb, Vibrolux Reverb or Pro Reverb instead. Lew

Thanks for the advice Lew, I am basically looking for an amp without a master, that is loud, clean and takes pedals well.

Get a silverface Fender from the early 70's with reverb and have it blackfaced. You'll be glad you did. Get one with reverb...even if you don't use reverb the amp will sound ballsier than a non-reverb silverface Fender. Lew

Or a Sound City...the 50 watters are loud but the 120's are insane!

Or even cheaper, get a Bogen CHB-50 and have 1/4" jacks put in it. They are HOT. I got one and it sounds fantastic. Great overdrive.

I'm actually more interested in a review of your Diamond Pedals Fireburst. I've been seeing auctions for Diamond pedals, and am curious.

Nothing but praise for this pedal(and all the Diamond Pedals I have played). It's really an amazingly versatile pedal, on the Mid-boost side you can go from a nice light over drive to metal type gain. On the fuzz side, it's different than most fuzzes. It's more focused than let's say... My big Muff, it's a very unique fuzz sound. I love it, you have to hear the fuzz for yourself.

As far as build quality, this thing is invincible I have definatly put it through it's paces since I bought it last July.

I have also played a couple other Diamond's. I have played the J-Drive(Overdrive/Clean Boost) and the J-Drive-TR(Limited run of J-drives with OD, Clean boost and a pull pot to turn the clean boost into a treble booster). All the pedals from Diamond that I have played were amazing. Sadly I haven't had a chance to get my hands on the Memory Lane(they're delay pedal, which gets very good reviews as far as I know). I am definatly buying the Chorus pedal that is in the works when it comes out.

Keep in mind, myself owning one. And Diamond's buissness being local(well, sort of) to me, I am a biased. But all bias aside, I would definatly recommend these pedals to almost anyone.
