Need Some Humbucker info on winds

Does anyone know of a list showing the Duncan line of humbuckers that indicates whether or not a pickup has equal or unequal windings ?

At the moment I want to concentrate on equal winds (same on both sides)
I am just not sure which ones are

A2pros ?
59's
PG's unequal I think
Custom winds ?
Screamin Demon ?

These are the models I'm looking at or have some experience with. Thanks.

Re: Need Some Humbucker info on winds

i strongly doubt that there's a list like that. my understanding is that any non-dimarzio humbucker can't have uneven winds due to their patents, they call that one dual-resonance, i believe...
from reading different threads on here, i believe all duncans are even (or very close to). i think if they were wound differently they'd be pushing the winding tolerances, or risking legal action

The DiMarzio patent only covers the situation where the two coils have the same number of winds but different wire thickness (to get complete hum canceling and uneven coils).

None of the regular production SDs are unbalanced. I think the most common one is the Brobucker.

Re: Need Some Humbucker info on winds

oh, I was led to believe the PG was uneven and that had abit to do with its tonal shape (the spikey upper mid bite). And that got me thinking which others may be like that.

Dimarzio sounds like they would patent the idea of your strings vibrating after you've hit them if they could. Regardless of how Dimarzio's actually might sound, the more stuff I hear about them the less I will probably ever try any. Maybe Dimarzio, Monster Cable and the NOT Bill Lawrence guy should get together and compare their legal teams:friday: Then they could all go have a picknick with Gibson.

Re: Need Some Humbucker info on winds

^that thing with the PG being unevenly wound only goes so far, i measured the coils on my PGb, and the coils only differ .02k, which is the norm for most humbuckers.

Re: Need Some Humbucker info on winds

So they are not actually uneven wound, that is just a variance it sounds like.

Re: Need Some Humbucker info on winds

most of the duncan humbuckers have an even wind. The A2Pro, custom custom, custom5, custom, JB, '59.....all have even coil winds. The PG does have an uneven coil wind, but its pretty close to being an even wind. The only humbucker that duncan makes that I know has an uneven coild wind for sure is the custom shop '78 model.

excellent clarification, thanks for that
