Need some INFO on the Ibanez Tube screamer

I'm thinking about getting a TS9 Tube Screamer Overdrive pedal for christmas.
Is this an overdrive pedal that makes your amp sound like a tube amp? also, I'm wondering do I plug the TS9 through my effects loop or guitar to amp? Whoever has tried one of these please tell me what they are like thanks.

Re: Need some INFO on the Ibanez Tube screamer

do NOT plug any distortion pedal into the effects loop, ever

it won't make a ss amp sound liek a tube amp

it's like a boost for a tube amp, it colors the sound, but it's mostly just a boost

A tube screamer is an overdrive pedal that is designed to make a clean tube preamp sound like your amp is on 10...It not only will boost your gain and drive your clean preamp harder, but it also adds a midrange hump and some compression to your tone...If you keep the drive knob off or almost completely off,max out the volume control and keep the tone control at around 9 o'clock or so,you get a pretty good clean boost...One thing the newer Tube Screamers lacks is low end,the proper opamp, and it benefits from the 808 output resistor mods that the 808 has..

One of my favorite pedals otherwise..

Buy it.... send it to send it to Stratdeluer97 for a mod. It will be the best OD pedal you will ever have.

Everything seems to sound great through those amps...Your TS9 will be great through it...

I got rid of mine, it sucked ass for getting a Slayer tone.

It's pretty much a blues/Classic Rock players pedal..Maybe even Jazz?

To clarify what was said before... A tube screamer will push a tube amp into saturation without having to crank the volume.
It will not make a solid-state amp sound like a tube amp.

Ditto. If you're looking to turn a solid state amp into a tube monster, you should look at a tube equipped pedal like the rare Ibanez Tube King (which shows up on eBay from time to time).

I've tried a Tube King, but never could get it to sound like a tube amp- the preamp tube used runs at too low a voltage, and overdriving a preamp tube sounds really harsh to me too...I don't really like master volume amps either, though.

Re: Need some INFO on the Ibanez Tube screamer

buy a tube amp in a pedal with a real tube instead.
tone lab do a good one and it has a preset ts9 sound in it!
bit more money, lot beter sound...
