Need tips on recording with an old Drum Machine

Re: Need tips on recording with an old Drum Machine

If you've got some old (rubber) trigger pads, they'll come in handy. I used to program my sequencer with a DrumKat, using an Alesis HR-16 for drum voices. Trying to program using the buttons can be tiresome.

looks like a good one. you could probably get a nice little mix with it with a few trial runs, then I'd just run a stereo out from it and record it so you can mix the whole stereo drum track as one. I used to do that with a roland 550 and it worked well. I did songs like that for years actually. typically, the cymbals on such units just need to come way down in the mix.

to do a song, you should find a manual if you don't have one to learn how to build songs from patterns, if you haven't already.

making patterns on these types of units is tedious, but it really helps understand how drums are laid out hit by hit by hit by hit....zzzzzzzz. Sorry, dozed off there.
