need to ditch the Tranny!

So here's the d.o.-

My amp came with a 220 volt plug like they use in Europe. I use a step-down transformer to convert it to 110 volts.

Now I know this isn't ideal for powering guitar amplifiers. So what I want is a clue as to how to convert the plug, amp, cable, whatever; to 110 volts (like everything else here).

Anyone who knows how to do this please share, I'm tired of the stupid tranny.

Re: need to ditch the Tranny!

I´m assuming a tube amp??

In that case: take it to a tech and be prepared to lay down a 3 digit sum... this is by far not the smallest mod you can do .. the entire power transformer has to be replaced along with a few other tweaks that need to be done to accomodate for the different line frequency and such... ;)

What kind of amp is it? (A longshot) But you may have a 110 tap on
the power tranny? I'd have to see a schematic. A Tech would just have to rewire it.

IF it has a 110 tap on the PT.. most Marshalls and Mesas for ex. don´t IIRC ;)

Most amplifiers dont, you have to be damn luck to get one that does and does not advertise it as being switchable.
