For a maple neck bolt on a basswood body axe,

I am looking for a pickup for the bridge position which sounds rounder, warmer and has a nice palm mute chunk and lots of lower mid. I don't like those uppermid pickup like the JB, sounds trebly to me.

Re: need your 2 cents

Custom Custom, Original Parallel Axis Trembucker, or Blues Trembucker. The last two are for use with trem spacing, like in Floyd equipped guitars.

Custom Custom, or a Dimarzio breed.

Ditto, Duncan doesn't have too many pickups with the top end rolled off so if the CC doesn't work for you Dimarzio has lot of warmer sounding pickups.

Re: need your 2 cents

how much high end you want has to do with what amp you have and what tone you are looking for. if you have a ss amp a 59 might seem bright. into a tube amp, it sounds just right.
the cc is a cool pup with a warmer high end

The Seth Lover Model, APH, CC, Invader, and the Parallel Axis Trembuckers (3 of them!) all have rolled back highs. Granted, they all have different voicings and output levels, but I think that having 7 models with a warm top end can be considered to be plenty. :burnout:

Give the Invader a shot.

Yeah this seem most reasonable, along with my suggestion of a Duncan Distortion. chunky palm mutes and not too much high end----> invader, something more hard-rock harmonics and overdrive/amp pusher type thing----> DD. To me the Custom 5 would be scooped as many have been suggesting and too traditional sounding, the CC would be a iffy for beating out the others in palm muting. Duncan custom may be very useful too.

I don't know if that's true....looks like from the tone chart that only one of the Trembuckers has rolled back highs, the CC, and then the Invader.

So you get a mega-ouput pickup that's too over the top for most people to use, or the CC which is an A2, or one pickup that probably sounds great but is not necessarily pleasing to look at in most guitars(I know that's picky but it's true).

I'm just saying that Duncan doesn't have much of a selection if you want a rolled back top end and/or prominent mids/lows in medium-high to high(not mega-high) output. This is where Dimarzio kind of fills a void in my opinion.

On the other hand Dimarzio doesn't make many pickups with a scooped like EQ....so Duncan fills that void as well.

Re: need your 2 cents

Have you tried any of the pickups I pointed out, or are you going by the tone chart. There is a difference, you know.
