Neural Amp Modeler (NAM)

Anyone goofed with this thing yet? Free profiler dealio. I'll check it out when I get some time. I guess people have added some profiles and whatnot (they might even be kemper ones for all I know). I may use it to borrow my brother's amps and capture some tones I like for future use. Might not be useful if the gain doesn't behave like the real amp though and I'm stuck with one sound.

I've used it to try a few people's profiles of stomp boxes. For amp profiles, I've tinkered around with it and ToneX. I think if you capture your own gear it can be really useful, but being locked into the parameters of the capture can be limiting. For me, the best use case has been profiles of clean amps to use as pedal platforms so that my tone shaping is hitting the front end of the profile.

Interesting - thanks! Until that recent liquid profiling update, wasn't that the limitation with the kemper too, or is the kemper more forgiving when you go to change the eq and gain from the starting point of a profile?

I've seen the liquid profiling thing mentioned, but I don't know much about it. People like sosomething and jolly can probably give their first-hand Kemper experience on that (I think those are the guys who had one when I was a regular here). With NAM being open source I'm sure it will be the most advanced option eventually.

Tested this thing last night. I ended up with crackling in reaper trying to record with it. I think my laptop is just too old, and I don’t have the patience to further troubleshoot it atm. The stand-alone worked ok but I prefer my modeler for flexibility and lower latency when practicing.

if anyone’s wanting some quick starting points here are some great captures I found:

(I didn’t personally try the kk)
