New 2017 Gibson CS 336s just released
Yeah, it's more or less like an LP. Less lower mid emphasis and the top end is different. There's a top end sparkle that I love about these guitars. They are more woody and resonant than an LP.
Overall, the 339 is going to be both smoother and warmer than the 336. The 336 will be very clear and the low end will be tighter. More piano like response on the 336. Both guitars, however, don't get the fullness or warmth of a 335.
FWIW, I have a "356" and it does everything the 336 can, but better. The attack is different and ultimately the 356 is more versatile.
