Got a wicked deal on this amp.. grabbed it from a guy on the HC forums. Shipped it UPS Ground last thursday, and needless to say, I was worried something may happen to it. Today the heavens descended, and my new amp arrived.
60lb box.. looks like someone at UPS inflicted a stab wound. It bleeds white..
What? Is that what I think it is?
:friday: :friday: :friday:
Pink carpet = FAIL.
Glowing tubes of tonal glory = WIN.
I wanted this amp for over a year, and I finally snagged one. I almost bought a VHT deliverance instead, but I couldnt resist on this one. It does sound quite a bit different from the VC50 I had at first, even though it was the 50 watt combo of the VH100R. This amp sounds spectacular to say the least. My old one had some odd problems with it, and a very cold bias due to a "weak transformer," says the tech. It sounded amazing clean and playing lead, but it had a harsh overtone blanketing the amp. This amp is completely mellow and warm. Very fluid, a solid tone, and much more sustain. This may be because the guy had put some great tubes in there; TAD EL34 power, and a mix of TAD and Mesa pre tubes. Not to mention it sounds biased a bit warm. Mixed with my Splawn cab, it dominates.
It is everything I expected, but with the addition of so much more.
