New Amp Day!!!

For those of you who wondered which amp i bought. i know i was trying to decide between a Blues Jr. and a Vox ac15. and i went to the store with the intention of buying either one. i even brought my board and guitar to test both of them out with... but, while a/b ing both i decided to give this Traynor a try. i admit i did not know anything about them other than i've see some people with them. i plugged in and wow, i was amazed. i spent a good 45 min playing stuff i play in my band, and found out that this amp is merciless it really lets you know when you're playing sloppy. anyways, thanks for all your input guys!
Here's some pics

Re: New Amp Day!!!

it it pretty loud? Is that 50W?
I've never researched Traynor and have no idea about them. What kinds of sounds are you getting?

dig your avatar, btw.

yeah it's fairly loud, but it's not as loud as my halfstack. Traynor is a Canadian made amp (who knew?) i love the clean channel in this amp, it takes pedals nicely and the lead channel is fairly decent too. what kind of sounds i'm getting well, it does classic rock very well, it's not really a '80's metal amp, you can fake it with a pedal. it sounds amazing with my strat, you'd swear i was playing a Fender twin. it's definately more amp than the Blues Jr. i was looking at, a vox ac15, but it sounded... boxy to me i could not get my rig to agree with it.

Thanks I like my avatar too, who doesn't like the Cheat?

Re: New Amp Day!!!

great choice man!!!

i LOVE my YCV40WR!!!

i think you'll like that better than either the JR or the Vox...i used to have a JR and while i did like it dimed, it didn't have nearly enough clean headroom!

the Traynor fixes that and LOVES pedals!

oops...almost forgot!

NEW STUFF ROCKS!!! :headbang: :headbang:

Re: New Amp Day!!!

I've tried out quite a few amps from Traynor's current line, and the YCV-50blue is one of their best for sure. The only amp they make that I prefer is the YCS-50, which is quite similar but with more bells and whistles, and a 15W class A option.

The blue has that great EL34 crunch tone you can't get from their other amps, or from the BJ or AC15 for that matter.

The other thing Traynors are well known for is their durability. They can take a serious beating!

Enjoy it!

Re: New Amp Day!!!

i saw the ycs-50 at the store too, but it had too much stuff i would not use. i've been playing through the amp most of the day, i have yet to find something i didn't like...which is rare cause i usually find something that disturbs me within a few hours of bringing it home

Re: New Amp Day!!!

Grats! I love my YCV-50Blue. Considered selling it a while back, and I'm glad I didn't; the clean side is fantastic, and the gain channel is pretty good, it takes pedals very well, and is built incredibly solid. Worth much more than what I paid (more than you did ;)).

Hope yours brings you many years of enjoyment.

Re: New Amp Day!!!

Hey Vlad, I know the YCV50 differs from my YCV40 (which I got for the same price) in that it has EL34 tubes, but still I know exactly how you feel! Traynor makes some killer and durable tube amps. No wonder they're from Canada!

Re: New Amp Day!!!

who knew canadians could build some sweet stuff!! i know that Ratherdashing is building my ultimate pedal, and now traynor built my favourite amp. canucks rock!

Re: New Amp Day!!!

Since you were so happy with yours, i did decide to try one out.
It is a very good amp with a good clean channel and good drive channel.
I like the reverb and master volume feature.
I am personally looking for a 2x12 combo, but this is a good amp, for
anyone into classic rock-hard rock. Very good at bedroom levels too.
And yep, us Canucks can make some good stuff!!

Re: New Amp Day!!!

someone should start a "Canadian Gear makers post" just to give them all props, and to let our american friends know about them too. i don't think a lot of them get any press anywhere

Re: New Amp Day!!!

Vladmarr,
i didnt see the ycs-90 at the local shop but i would like to try it for sure.
I will keep my eyes open.
Traynor have been around forever, our old P.A. in our school was Traynor

Re: New Amp Day!!!

here's a pic of the Traynor with my pedals, btw, i got a nice spot picked out for ratherdashing's FTL drive, right above the a/b switch, and it will be going into channel 3 on the looper
