New Amp head

Ok so im considering getting a new amp, because i currently have a Acoustic 15 watt lead series practice amp. Im trying to improve my tone, so i did some research. I found the orange micro terror series interesting, but i was wondering since i dont have a lot of money now, could i just get the amp head and use headphone, because i dont play alot without headphones. Ive never had seperate amp heads and cab, so im not sure how it works. I know the amp has a headphone input, but i dont know if its usable without the cab. So what do you guys think i should do. Any suggestions of what amp i should get, (thinking about less than $200, could possibly be more tho). The Orange was just something i saw but i kinda leaning towards it.

Need more info . how many watts were you needing? What are you intending on using it for? Do you care if its solid state or did you want something tube? Onboard effects required?
Thanks for any input,,

As of right now I'm doing any serious recording, but i am planning on doing some in the future (like in a couple of months) . But for now its just a tone upgrade. Preferably solid, but tube could work as well, but i would like it to have at least some distortion. As for watt not a whole lot, but not too much either, just looking to upgrade my tone, i would say around 50. And again, could i just get the head with out the cab and just use headphones. Im thinking about getting the head now and the cab later, when i get the money for it.

Dude, if you mainly play through headphones, I'd get a POD from Line6. That way, you don't even have to worry about a cab.

Re: New Amp head

Orange is an aquired taist. you love them or you dont. people will piss on your opinion wile others will cheer you on when it comes to orange amps. I dont personally own one but I cant deny that people who love them seem to be happy with them most of the time. whatever you decide try to buy used. At that volume level anybody else wont have gigged with it and if its in good shape chances are somebody hardly used it and just sold it when they lost interest in playing. check the rating to make sure its in excellent shape and buy it
