New Amp & Pedal Day!!

Nothing too exciting....

Just got my old Behringer Vintager GM110 combo back. Sold it to a friend who's since got a Marshall Artist head and cab and no longer uses it. Sold it to him a while back and honestly, it's a pretty good poor mans Tech 21 Trad clone. Great for practicing late at night. Happy to have the little guy back.

New pedal is a Morley Wah/Volume. Works great. Needs some tightening on the pedal. Not spring loaded like the newer ones and drifts some either direction, but functions perfect. Found it covered on a shelf in a guys house my GF was cleaning. Asked him what it was and I was met with "My son left that hear way back, you want it?" After some serious dusting zi have a new Morley wah/volume. I love free stuff.

Re: New Amp & Pedal Day!!

please allow me to congratulate you. I don't quite care for behringer's take on the sansamp pedal (although it works if in a pinch), but perhaps the amp sounds a bit better than it does. I love my morley wah though. huzzah!

Re: New Amp & Pedal Day!!

Thanks! I already have a Morley Wah-SP which I love. From what I've read and been told it's the same circuit as the original bad horsie but without the extra controls. This one sounds good, just not quite as good as my old Morley. The volume feature is "ok". Again, I need to tighten the pedal some so it'll stay in position and not drift up or down. Can't quite get it to stay on zero volume yet but I did just try it out. Time to go dig out the small wrenches.

For $40 that Behringer sounds well close enough without spending the Tech 21 money. lol! With the right pedal I wouldn't be scared to record or gig with it. I think a good quality speaker swap would work wonders.

Happy new amp/pedal day!!! always the best of days haha...Does morley still make a wah and volume in one pedal? I would be interested in that since I don't have much pedalboard room

Re: New Amp & Pedal Day!!

I'm not sure. This one is a bit older I think. They do make these new smaller footprint pedals though. I'd like to test it out some more but I may possibly be interested in selling the wah/volume. As I mentioned above, the pedal is a touch loose and you have to slip a small wrench underneath the "treadle" (sp?) and tighten with a philips. Doesn't stay where I leave it which I like on a spring less wah. My current wah returns back like a bad horsie. This wah/volume is more like a regular crybaby in that aspect. Got that wide throw only morleys have.

Re: New Amp & Pedal Day!!

How does the activation on this work? Are you always in volume until you step on the switch?

Re: New Amp & Pedal Day!!

New amp update: Finally got my lazy butt around to jamming through the old Behringer tonight. It was shorting out when you'd change the modeling selections. Turns out a little electronics cleaner was all it needed. Switches work like new now.

I know it still says Behringer but believe it or not it sounds pretty decent. The Jensen Mod speaker sounds really good and the amp has quite a bit of gain. My little poor mans Tech 21 is delivering the goods! Considering an EQ in the loop to "spank" it up a bit more.

Now I just need to replace the jewel & light socket/bulb. Original owner got the bright idea he was going to change the jewel cover and it was glued on, not screwed on like a Fender. It has red leds for the light and I wonder if a regular jewel & socket like they sell for Fenders would fit. Guess I need to crack it open and check the voltage going to the existing light.

Just to testify that occasionally Behringer makes stuff that can hold up; I'm now the 2nd and 4th owner of this amp. Owner 1 & 3 aren't the kindest folks on equipment either.

Sold the Morley to fund a new delay.
