New amp project in the works

This is part one, which I've had ready for a few months now just researching more parts and which era I want to base the build on...

Lots of NOS goodies here...NOS Allen Bradley carbon comp resistors across the board save for the bias supply, NOS Phillips "mustard" caps, NOS Lemco silver mica caps, NOS "top hat" diode in the bias circuit and a nice thick turret board.

Today I moved on part 2...after a lot of research I finally decided on transformers

Lots left to figure out so the final product is still a long way away but this feels like a pretty solid start.

Looks like it needs more gain.

I've always wanted to do an amp build just never went for it, pedal builds and mods a plenty but never stepped up to amps.

16%? Dude, charge your phone. You don't want it to cut off in the midd

Re: New amp project in the works

I would sell, or steal for nefarious purposes (using clandestine infiltration techniques) body parts, in order to play through esquire -> kot -> that exact amp

I'm so jelly I'm toast right now

I have been playing through a '66 and a newer 4x12 at rehearsals (belongs to the songwriter) and it is my favorite Marshall to date.

Don't get all jelly yet...this puppy is a ways off!

I've wanted a JTM-45 for years and I've yet to play a reissue, even modded that compares to a real one and I've yet to find a real one that I can afford!

There are several killer clones out there, and I could likely save money by getting a nice clone but this will be fun and I can use all the parts I want to use.

Very cool! I wouldn't know the first thing about building an amp, but I admire those that can!
