New Amp - Suggestions For Heavy Metal?

Okay, so I'm selling my Bugera Tube 5V pratice amp. Why? Let's just say I hate the 8' speaker... A lot. I messed with a tube amp for a year or two now before I gotten a bigger one. lol And I'm using my Line 6 Spider IV 75W as my pratice/recording/live amp. I was wondering, what's a good amp for high gain, Pantera/Disturbed/Se7en + Four (Slipknot)/uh... Well... HEAVY METAL! All types of Metal at that! Here are some stuff you should know that I will be using wit the amp plus the budget.

Budget: $300

Guitars: Custom Made SG With AHB-1 Blackouts, Dean V With SH-2N + SH-13, & A Washburn PS (Paul Stanley) 400 With SH-2N + SH-4.

Other Amps That Will Be Joining It (Rytham + Lead): Line 6 Spider IV 75W, Modern Vintage Tube Amp 100W Head + Modern Vintage Cabinet.

What I want the amp to be? Hybrid, Solid State, Or A Tube Amp. I prefer Hybrid & Solid State Because I Haven't Found A Worthy Live/Recording/Pratice Tube Amp Then The One I Built. Also, Solid State Is Cheaper At Times So Throw In A Few Of Those If You'd Like.

P.S. If someone asks me about the budget, guitar, pickups, ect, ect, ect, that's listed in this post, I'm not going to reply to it. Period. If I left something out, then that's a different story and I apologize for that as well.

youll need a head and closed back cabinet for those tones. I would save up more than $300, your in for disappointment. Iff your hell bent on that budget, I would save $500 and get a 5150 combo used if I were you; note that it is bulky and heavy as hell though. for more, Id get a 5150 used head and a 212 closed back cabinet cause its easier to transport.

yeah save up and get a killer tube metal amp like a 5150 or 6505 as everdrone suggested.

Like these guys said. Save up a little more money and search ebay or something like that for a nice, used tube amp.

Like edhunter said, 5150 combo's goes for pretty cheap

if you want an amp with tons of tight gain for metal, you want an ENGL. But you will need more than $300.

+1 for saving up some more. But if you aren't going to raise your budget those Vox modellers are great bang for the buck.

So the amp you built is hands down better than any Fryette, VHT, Engl, Soldano, Splawn, Bogner, Marshall, Peavey, etc out there? Yet, your main amp is a SPider?

Dude, not trying to be a prick but you need to raise your budget. The old additive that you get what you pay for comes into play here. If you want a killer tone, you have to invest in it.

Like many have said, a Peavey 6505 combo would suit your needs for the time being. Brand new, the combo cost under $600. So you could probably find one used for slightly more than your budget.

I've also seen some Marshall DSL used for around $600, but that would require a ext cab.

If your dead set on SS, some old Marshall SS amps (forgot the name) c an get some sick gained out metal tones. Randall makes some decent solid state.

Best advice we can give you is USE what you have NOW and SAVE up for something WORTHWHILE. You'll be happier in the long run.

Do you have reason for not selling the Spider? It might help with the budget.

Honestly, the Randall combos are great amps, they have some other nice sounding combos too, although some may be pushing your budget. Heck, Lynch used to have an RG80 combo sitting in a chair behind his "stacks" and mic'd back in the 80s. They have a reissue of the RG80 out now.

For metal, you're may need additional gain from a pedal though.

But, yeah, if the amp you built is so great, why not build another one with more power if that's what you need? What kind of amp did you build?

His budget is a limiting factor, but the Randalls are in his budget.

just walk into the guitar store and say "I have 300 dollars, sell me an amp."

and buy whatever they tell you to buy

it doesn't really matter

Or send me the $300 and stay happy with your Spider, and I can be happy upgrading to a better tube amp than I've already got.

Or keep your Bugera V5 and use your $300 to buy a 2x12 cab so you can bypass the 8" spkr in it.

If you only want to spend 300 and you have 3 amps I wouldn't throw that money into another practice quality amp. Use a good pedal with the Marshall or sell it and get something more in the vein you want. Or maybe plug ur Bugera into the 4x12.
