New amp?

i own a peavey valveking head and i was thinking of trading to get a combo amp just for the size value. i dont play in a band very often but i would like to get a combo that could work for a band if needed. i would like to stay the tube route. what size of wattage would i need to work for that? also any suggestions on a specific amp would be apreciated. i like to play hard rock/metal riffs and i would like to find something halfway affordable. im not looking to get 6505+ combo pricerange stuff.

I found a nice little Marshall JCM900 1 x 12 for smaller venues and it's still pretty darn loud for a 50 watter. I have since found another small combo that I'd been looking to get for ages so the JCM will have to go, it's a shame I can't afford to keep it as I really do like it.
