ok I'm looking for a modeling combo (for covers) for small gigs has anyone A/B'edthe new VOX ADT 112 and spider 11 112 amps as always opinions would be most welcome also anything else in this price range I should look at ? trying to find someone localy who stocks these is a :banghead:

Re: new amp

I tried the Spider combos and didn't care for them. Too bright and "digital" sounding for me. I haven't tried the Vox stuff, but I hear great things about them.

Re: new amp

I've tried them both.

GO WITH THE VOX.

IMO the Spider II series all sound weak, thin, and far too digital. The Vox Modelers are much more pleasing to the ear IMO. But remember to try them both out. And also look into the Roland Cube 60, it's great too. Depending on what you play and what gear you have, it can even be better than the Vox. I feel that the Vox sounds better overall, but the Cube has more good-sounding distortions on it.

Re: new amp

I tried the new Vox 50 watt model. My favorite setting was the Tweed 4X10. What a great clean tone! Of what I recall the UK '70 setting was pretty good too. I just quickly tried the other settings and they all seemed pleasing to the ear. I don't know how it would work in a band setting though.

Re: new amp

Thanks guys:- looks like I need to travel and have a listen which seems daft as line 6 & Vox warehouses are both only about ten miles from were I live:banghead: the Vox looks promising!! 50 watts should be ok for pub gigs and I think it has an output for ex cabinet
