Hi there,

Im new around my name Anibal alias (friedman4ever) a first class Marty Fridman fan, i already did lot of research on this forum & already made my choice for my new set SD humbuckers after reading a lot around here.

1 x SH2N Jazz Humbucker Guitar Pickup (Neck, Black)
1 x SH-6 Duncan Distortion™ Humbucker Black

i'm going to install this on my Ibanez S 540 LTD
i'm using a peavey 6505 top
I play lot of metal, trash, heavey but also lot of prog stuff & love Marty Style of playing.

Hope i'am in the right track with my choice.

Welcome to the forum, man :)

I believe your choice is good.
The Jazz in the neck position will give you a nice, articulate clean tone.
I haven't tried the Distortion but I think Schecter puts the Distortion and Jazz in some of their guitars, and I believe they know what they're doing, so I think your choice is good.

Rock on!

Tony

Re: New around

I just can't wait, i installed 4 months ago a SD Full Shred, & i love it, it was my first SD.. i use EMG & Dimarzion on othres guitars, i'm up to something new, don't want the same sound on all my axes..

Re: New around

I've been listenig a lot the clips on the duncan website.. i have the idea the Duncan distortion is a little bit over the top & trebelish ?? the JB & Custom seems a little less trebelish ? i see for example Marty Friedman & Dave mustaine are using the JB & some other hot guitarist.. of course they have thousands of dollars on their rig.. but they sound awesome..

Re: New around

I don't think you can put much stock in the Duncan clips. Unless you are using the same guitar and same amp, etc., you will get a different tone. The DD is great. It has the same coils as the JB, but uses a ceramic magent instead of the JBs A5. I don not have a problem with shrillness in my SG. Anyway, you DO have a tone knob...right? Use it!

Re: New around

If you like the sound of the JB or Custom better, go for it. They're all great pickups that would probably work for you.

Re: New around

After reading lot of comments here & at the harmony centraal forum i thing i'm going to change my choice, instead of a DD a JB for the bridge, i'm afraid my guitar is going to sound to treble since is a Ibanez S (a thin one) & this kind of duncans make a trebelish sound on guitars with this kind of body.
