I've been casually looking for a new backup bass for awhile now. I happened to call the local Guitar Center and inquired about Jazz basses. They had a new trade-in Geddy Lee Jazz for $499. I bought it Monday.
It's an amazing bass. Totally different animal than my G&L, both sound and feel. The Geddy is very light. The G&L is not. The Geddy has a much smoother low end as is typical for a Jazz. The G&L has a P-bass width nut and this has a narrower-than-normal Jazz nut and neck. Very very fast.
I'm sold on Fender Japan now too. This thing was put together flawlessly. Everything on it is tight. The finish is excellent. It comes with (I think) US '62 pickups, and a Badass II bridge. Maple neck, maple fretboard, black block inlays, black binding. I'll get pics up tonight.
