New boost

Ok. I play a Tokai LP with Custom/PG through Hughes &Kettner Editon Tube 60R, which is a fine cheap tranny amp. The clean chan is somethin like a Vox/Fender, it begins to crunch past 13 o'clock, depending on the pups. It also has a drive channel which is a bit marshally but doesn't have huge amount of high mids. It's gain amount isn't huge, but I boost it with a BOSS SD-1 and I get into Raandy Rhoads AMOUNT of gain.
But, I'd like to have something with more clean boost or treble booster to get more gain and have it tight and crunchy, bitey.
I'd also like the idea of getting more vintage, bluesy tones from clean chan with a drive pedal, SD-1 can do it but not so well. I have about 170 € to spend, and makes I can get fairly easily are the usual stuff and MI Audio.
Actually I had in mind the Boost'n'Buff and Blues Pro from them.
Tones I'd like to get are old Judas Priest, generally old 70s/80s rock/metal.

Re: New boost

Yeah the Xotics seemed to be nice.
The fact that the MI Audio BNB has both treble boost and flat boost seems to be nice.

Re: New boost

Bump!
Any opinions on the mentioned ones, or other alternatives?

E: I checked the Xotic's prices, and 289 € is just WAY too much for one pedal. My amp didn't cost that much.

Re: New boost

You could get your sd-1 modded for a more cleaner boost (it won't be completely clean but should improve the tone.

Re: New boost

Yeah, but I'd very much like to have the SD-1 as it is (or at least I will let it stay as on OD box)

Re: New boost

Nick Greer "Sonic Boom Booster"
HAO "Rust Booster"
Metalpedals "Ultra Boost"
All great choices!

All of those look ok, but I'd have to order them from the states, and there are many pedals (Boss, Proco, Visual Sound, and MI Audio, among others) that I can get by just walking downtown to buy the **** thing

I didn`t notice where you were from!!!!
If you can get MI Audio then i would go with them!!!!!!

Re: New boost

Yeah, here MI is quite reasonably priced, BNB for example costs 144 €, and for example compared to a BOSS MT-2, which costs about 90 €.
I think I'll get that Boost'n'Buff.

Re: New boost

Check out thegearpage.net for used pedals. Lots of great deals to be found there. :)

How many of them is in Finland, or even in Europe =)
Although I can't register there, there's some great stuff, for example that MI Audio Crunch Box demo.

Re: New boost

I bought a BB Preamp. Shipping is around 20$, and they go for some place around 150$.. Not too far away from the price of a BNB..? RC Boost should be around the range too.

Re: New boost

I like the Rocktron Austin Gold OD...if you turn the gain way down and the level up, it'll make your pre amp tubes SING, and you have the option of adding selected ammounts of overdrive crunch to the tone, as well.
