Re: New Bridge
The ZR, Edge-Zero, and Edge Pro probably have different routes than a Floyd. It can be done, I'm sure it can. Things to take into accout would be fret radius (because if they don't match you have to shim the saddles...) and what trem do you want?
The ZR has a very different feel. Slightly stiffer with the ZPS bar on, and it has a narrower pitch range...you can't bend up that much or dive down that much. It is smoother though because when you've got the trem all the way down I don't feel all that much pressure to come back up...but it's barely noticeable and probably just bs that I've been fed too much. The good thing is that the trem doesn't need servicing at all, there's no knife edges to wear out, and you DON'T NEED TO LUBE THE BEARINGS unlike some people think. The tremolo is also very easy to set up. Like other not so expensive trems it does use softer metals though...
The Edge Pro is very similar to a Floyd Rose, but you can use the strings with the ball ends...no biggie really....if you like the feel of the Floyd then you'll like the feel of the Edge...
Then there's the Edge-Zero, which is pretty much an Edge Pro with the ZPS stopbar of the ZR trem. That's all there is to it.
Now before you rush out to buy an Edge Zero or a ZR you should know I'm calling BS on what people say about busting out a string and the thing keeping in tune...not even relatively in tune. You can do double stop bends without having to place your palm in the trem though...
