New Build Advice/Recommendation

Starting a new project and wanted some advice/suggestion/comments. What I'm thinking is an alder body with a one piece maple neck. Pickups would be SD JB and SD Hotrails. I would like to go with a Wilkenson tremolo on this build.

Anyone ever use a JB with a maple neck? Or what pickup combinations do y'all think works best for alder and maple. Thanks!

Do you mean that you want the Hot Rails in the neck position? If so, definitely make it the neck model pickup.

The JB should sound great.

Best for me or best for you? The JB/hotrails combo is great in alder and maple... But is that the sound you are after? If your doing metal or hard rock i would say go for it but if your doing surf music or jazz might suggest something else.

Definitely planned on having the Hotrails in the Neck and the JB in the bridge.

And yes, going for the Rock/Metal sound.

Planning on going with Musikraft Charvel neck and Charvel Body.

I just don't remember playing a a JB with a maple neck...so I was hoping to hear it would be a good combo. I had a Jackson Soloist with the Hotrails & JB combo and I absolutely loved it. However, my music pastor at the time accidentally broke the neck...Soloists are neck thru and at the time I couldn't afford to fix/replace the guitar. So now I'd like to get that similar sound but have vowed to never go back to a neck thru.

Thanks for the advice!
