If you have seen my other posts it has been a bit of an ordeal getting this body correct. But I finally have all the parts so I thought I would start a build thread.

Parts list:
Pickups. SD distortion neck, SD custom 8 bridge
Dunlop 500k pot
Switchcraft switch and Jack

Body, KnE San D
Neck, USA charvel
Bridge, Original Floyd Rose

I still have a little fit and finish to do and I still need to drill holes for my strap buttons. I need a longer block for the floyd (42mm vs 37mm) Then I'll have a 6-8 week wait while the body is getting a custom paint job by Sims Guitars. Also waiting for a custom neck plate from Dave at frets on the net

Played it for the first time today and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to put it down long enough to send it out for paint!!!!

Paint will be along the lines of this. But the black will be metalic and the silver will have a fade to it. Paired with that one red pickup I hope it looks as good in real life as it does in my head.

Glad you got it right finally! Tell us the details on how that went later.

For now - can't wait to see the finished product!!

Cant wait to see the paint, but not gonna lie, I do like the au naturale look also.

I was really hoping that you were gonna keep the raw look, that is, until I saw what you intended to do with it.

That paint job will look great with the red pup, no mounting rings, right?

well here we are at week 15 since I dropped this off for paint. Was told at that time 8-9 weeks. I have checked in with him a few times now. I was told 4 weeks ago that it would be next week. He is supposed to be one of the best out there but this is getting ridiculous. Starting to get pissed at this point.

I wasn't going to say anything, but I've heard lots of stuff about Sims and wait times. I wish you luck, and also wish you won't need it.

Well. I finally got this body back. 18 weeks to the day. And I'm. Not happy at all. This looks like something I could have done in my garage. The paint is super slick but that's where the good ends for me. Look at the pics and tell me what you guys think.

I can see why you’re not 100% happy. Not that it matters but nobody could ever see that unless they are a few feet away.
It’s a very cool design though.
If you think that complaining to the painter might help, maybe it’s worth a try, but my guess is that it won’t help.
I’d just assemble the guitar and play the hell out of it.
