New Cheap Pedals Day

Four Joyos and a Biyang

JF-16 British amp sim
JF-14 American amp sim
JF-05 Classic Chorus
JF-10 Compressor
RV-10 Baby Boom Tri-Reverb

All the Joyo pedals where @ $30
And came with a nine volt battery installed

The Biyang priced round $55 with no battery in the box

The Tri-Reverb is stereo
Which helps as the two amp sim have no.reverb

Here the plan
I will create my pedalboard chain
Into the Morley ABY
Then A-to American amp
And B- to the British amp
Both amps get one channel on the Tri-Reverb
Then it a powered PA speaker

Simple portable versatile

I can fit the PA speaker pedalboard and guitar in the hatch of my hatchback

And still seat four in my Versa

I'll have more later as I get to.audition each pedal and combination

Re: New Cheap Pedals Day

Gotta love the graphics. What does a fist have to do with Chorus or a scorpion to do with Compression? :)

If anything, the fist graphic should have been saved for Ring Modulation.

The chorus instruction book refers to SPEED and DEPTH
While the pedal says RATE and WIDTH

Joyo had two chorus pedals
A small one the size of the compressor and the larger orange one like mine
The smaller was five dollars more
The YouTube reviews I saw made them out the same just in different size boxes

So I saved five bucks:-$

The scorpion is odd

heck all the Joyo graphics are

If it bothers me I'll paint over it

Re: New Cheap Pedals Day

I did something very similar, and I'll forewarn you....you'll need a noise reduction pedal due to the hiss from the American Sound and the British Sound modelers, BUT don't get the JOYO one as it does nothing. The Behringer NR400 works fairly well if you need 'inexpensive'.

Re: New Cheap Pedals Day

Hmm the Voice and Drive knobs on the amp sim pedals work together with the Level knob

Lotsa cool sound in there
The Voice knob on the British pedal was stuck far left
I was scared I was gonna break it but it loosened up and works

Both pedals like the drive far right
That's where the magic is

But far right does introduce hiss in both pedals

Backing off to 3 or 4 o'clock is a good balance

The stereo reverb isn't doing what I want

Switching A/B between the two results in randomly one or the other

I have to check my connections

The sounds of the American and British pedals are hard to describe

This is where I liked it

The American and was powerful and clean with just a hint of edge like a deluxe cranked

The British had an overtone like modulation that was suprising and exciting

As I said I am playing into a 15 Inch powered pa speaker

Now hear me out...

Say you mounted the 15" speaker to the roof of the versa, right? You could have the most insanely portable gigging machine on the planet. You wouldn't even have to unpack anything or worry about renting a van.

Re: New Cheap Pedals Day

i can't help but wonder if some sort of valve DI box could help, i can see where a gate could be very useful as well

a bold plan.

Re: New Cheap Pedals Day

Or you could just get that thing Mincer posted....

These ended up being $180
Mincer's was $250 with a two month wait

Think I just need the other pa speaker

Probably will be just fine

Wanted a stereo rig with a Marshall/Fender
ABY thing

Yes, and I have one on order. As mentioned, I tried to do the same thing with the JOYO pedals, and was semi-successful, but the noise (hiss) of the JOYO Amer. Snd. & Brit. Snd. is problematic. A NR pedal does remove the hiss, but as we all know, to at least some degree they suck some tone. At least that's my opinion.....so the quest continues.

EDIT: And to duplicate the function of the Tech 21 Fly Rig 5, you need 6 pedals (Am. Snd., Brit. Snd, Rvb., Dly., clean Boost, and Noise Reduction). @ approx. $40 each, that's $240 versus the $250 of the Fly Rig 5 and lesser tone quality (At least I think so now, 'til I get one of my own.)

Re: New Cheap Pedals Day

Dang my ears are still ringing

Ok with two pa speakers it works
The American amp plays thru speaker one
And the Reverb trails across both speakers
Same with the British amp thru speaker two

The Reverb sounds great thick and lush

With both amps engaged it sounds huge and full
Either one sounds great
But when EQ'd together it sounds incredible

So I added.the Chorus ahead of the Morley

Guitar-Chorus - Morley- Amps- Reverb -Speakers

Instant howl
The Reverb don't like that Chorus at all
Refuses to exist in the chain with it

When engaged , any knob (Blend and Time)
Raised above nothing started a feedback howl
Even with the Chorus switched off

Ok so the chorus is swirly
Without the reverb engaged it doesn't shift across the speakers

It should be after the preamps anyways
Maybe should be a stereo Chorus.
After the Reverb

Tomorrow we'll look in on the compressor

Dude please $30 is the going rate brand new with battery installed

Don't just pull numbers from your bum to justify your opinions

I haven't!
$42 each is what I paid for each of my JOYO's purchased from USA distributors. I don't care to purchase them direct from China, and that's ($42) the best price I found from USA.....not saying a lower price doesn't exist. I don't form an opinion and then make up stats to justify it.
