New clip: vai type shred

Davey

Goliath of Tone
if you could name it like that LOL

got the backing clip from Jeff_H

clip is quite long and i do a couple of nasty things lol.

this was purely for fun. i closed my eyes and let the backing track talk to me LOL basically, i let myself go and just did what i felt. the beginning is off, but it gets better

i really like how it turned out.
the guitar is a little low in the mix, but i forgot to turn the backing track down a little =P

please leave feedback, positive and negative about the tone and chops.

enjoy! the clip is Haggard shred

Re: New clip: vai type shred

I think the guitar sits well in the the mix

Theres some cool ideas in there (I wouldnt say Vai influenced though) but some of the fast phrases sound like your playing and hoping to hit a right note.

I liked the pick scrapes, and the harmonics down one string nearer the end, pretty cool :D

Re: New clip: vai type shred

it's the guitar port i'm playing through and to be honest, i really dont know which amp this was.. all i know, it wasnt the soldano cos this one is darker.. probably the one with the skullheads.. nuni, whats that amp again? it's a line 6 rectifier model of somesort i guess

Hey Davey!,

some good ideas over this one, but I can't comment on that plane anymore cause it's really not my style of playing.

I would recommend you to work on your vibrato and articulation

Keep it comin'
good week

Davey....nice job. I think the guitar fits well in the mix also. I'm not gifted when it comes to shred, so I'm duely impressed that you've put lead to the track. Keep it comming.

i'm trying hehe, but i only have so much time when i can grab the guitar and try stuff out. as you can see i got the right ideas hehe, just there is the techical knowledge missing

and thx guys =)

Re: New clip: vai type shred

Hmm ... the backing track has a Vai type feel, due to the general "boogie" feel.
I would suggest tracking a rhythm guitar that follows the backing, and then doing a melody/solo on top of that. The solo slips out of tune at about 1:20 for a bit. 3:15 has some nice bending!
I'm seeing a LOT of improvement here, Davey, in your approach, as well as technique! Keep it up!!! :D :D

doing that ATM, will record it this weekend

the thing is out of tune all over if you ask me, now that i've listened to it thoroughly. i'm quite proud of the pick scrapes and the bending too =) thx hehe

maybe i should always turn off my brain and let my fingers decide what they want to do.. with a bit of practice it'll turn out even better hehe

AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

MY EARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

j/k

yeah, that was pretty long..............sounded like kerry king(which oculd be good) in a very eveil setting you could make noise and scare small children!!!!!!!!

Re: New clip: vai type shred

Nice work. That is VERY long which would make me stretch to keep it interesting. I liked the melody thing you had working towards the beginning. A lot of cool stuff in there dude. That does kind of sound like Kerry King in places. Maybe a little Vernon Reid also.....

Re: New clip: vai type shred

thats the main problem.. pumping out new stuff in such a long clip.
i'm trying to do a more 'thought-of' approach on the rythm and lead tracks ATM, but it aint that simple lol.. the rythm is ok and pretty easy, but gotta think of something to make the lead not get boring

who's kerry king? (well, i know WHO he is, i just never listened to his stuff, or didnt know i did)
