New Custom Asian made guitar

ehdwuld

A Ficus
My daughter was quite jealous of my Vanity Ehdwuld Signature guitar. So at Christmas we designed her one.
She wanted turquoise but this teal was as close as we could get.

She wanted her name on the headstock and chose the font.

She wanted the belly cut and tapered heel. I kinda pushed that

Ebony board with no inlays, she kinda liked it.

The builder used a right handed nut and didn't even bother to try to adjust the slots.

The bridge is junk
But I plan on putting a roller bridge on

It is super light at 7.5 lbs
Probably basswood

That is really cool. I hope she gets a lot of enjoyment out of it. Plus that was a cool thing to do. You're a cool dad and the world needs more of them. Plus, there is something really special about daddy's and little girls. Mine is all grown up now and getting married in May.

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

Wow, that color is really great! What a fun thing to order- I think y'all did a great job.

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

Nifty. Watch out dad, it doesn't take to long for them kids to upstage us.:arms:

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

Dude - that is FREAKING AWESOME. Looks pretty Turquise to me....Robin Egg, Light Blue, whatever.

That heel cut is BAD@$$. (That's the kind of stuff Gibson should have started doing 40 years ago, if they cared, which they don't.)

If a nut and a better bridge are all it needs, color me impressed! we need more info about this company. Give us the business-deal review of the exchange.

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

That's a real nice colour and wood grain on the top! I assume that's an ebony fret board? I noticed the poker chip on the 3-way selector switch is upside down. Did you wire it that way?

;>)/

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

Yea she's just a lil bit left handed

The poker chip is OEM, does make it easier to read from a playing position
If it isn't wired that way I might spin it round

The seller is one on Aliexpress " Shop3097005 Store "
They were really nice about customizing the guitar
Picked out one similar to what I wanted
Contacted seller thru the app
" hey can I get this left handed?
Can I get stainless frets?
Does it have the sculpted heel and tummy cut? You may want to show pictures with these features circled, just saying
On the headstock logo , there is a website that has a font generator.
Type in the logo you want, scroll thru the fonts
Then send them a screenshot
You will have to tell them how you want it as well
Photo shop it if you want it at an angle or something
Same with any design you want

Ask for photos before they ship, just in case something needs to be tended to before it leaves

Be prepared to change hardware and pickups

If you want specific stuff, ask before you order
Some things have an upcharge
For example the ebony board is $25 extra
The logo was not

On the stainless frets some charge extra some do not

On my Ehdwuld Signature, ebony fretboard was extra.
The custom control layout I wanted wasn't
The stainless frets weren't extra
The locking tuners weren't extra

Late in the build of the ERI guitar I asked about specific locking tuners and was turned down because that were almost finished.

It took four weeks to build. The last two weeks I asked if everything was fine. Because build time was stated at two weeks. They has some setbacks . Sent pictures of the progress. Had to extend the shipping date twice

After shipping, it took two weeks to arrive.
When it left China, there was a one week gap in tracking till it cleared customs

The Ehdwuld came thru New York customs
The ERI came thru San Francisco customs

Both were a week out when they cleared customs

Like I said expect some small problems
This one didn't take the beating the Ehdwuld did

Some don't fair well in handling. I've seen video of broken necks and stuff

You can always open a dispute reclaim some of your money or all of it possibly

I plan on some stuff
The Ehdwuld I planned on replacing all the stuff I did

The ERI I kinda expected the nut to be workable

Fretwork is nice

ERI came with Grover tuners
But somehow I don't think they are real. They may be

I generally don't open them up and look at the routes and such

If I do get in there for some reason, I'll post some images
I might just flip those pickups over to see if they are Epiphone

Oh and you can request Seymour Duncans if you want
I saw some images of some double slug Seymour Duncans, I think those are counterfeits as well

She was wanting something closer to the Seafoam green strat that she's taken possession of since I finished it

The heel cut is on my Gibson Custom Studio, but not so pronounced

Yea she won't have to go far to be better than me
I know a few chords and can change fairly smoothly
Make pretty ditties to accompany my pitchy folk rock sangin

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

Awesome looking guitar. (I don't care much for the gold tophats...they don't seem to fit in with the teal & chrome look). You're an awesome dad, Ehd. I hope your daughter will always remember that.

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

Well she likes the tophats, I think she just hasn't said anything about them yet

I have some chrome ones

Put the bridge knobs top hat and the neck knobs as chrome, like on the Epi Bonamassas. It's about as cool as knobs can get.

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

That's a cool dad thing to do man.

I hope it'll give her plenty of enjoyment!

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

The Epi bridge is slap backwards for the lefty
Roller bridge and bone nut will be here Friday

Couldn't find lefty TusqXL
Called Arkansas Musicworks, they were out of stock
Sweetwater sales man wouldn't look
Sent him an email he called the next day ,I gave him the details
Called back the next day he still hadn't looked
Wtf

Anyways found a lefty acoustic two pack with nut and acoustic saddle, a pair of each for $8
And a roller bridge

Dang I love Amazon

Re: New Custom Asian made guitar

So the new lefty nut and roller bridge showed up
Had to get an acoustic bone set . It was a two pack for eight bucks.

So took out my razor knife and scored around the old righty they put in

There was a crapload of sawdust under the cover

I'm sure there's a truss rod in there somewhere

Took a rubber handled cresent wrench and a pair of side cutters as a hammer to bump it loose

Tons of super glue on the edges
But the slot looks good

Cleaned it up and buffed the edges. Then stuck her in
First with just the outside strings tight to check the height.
When the fitment was done a dab of Elmers Wood Glue.

Action on the first fret does look bad

Tomorrow when the glue has cured, I will dress the edges and fit the new bridge.

I took some measurements off my other roller bridge guitars with pretty good action.

Then preset the new bridge for the left handed intonation
Shouldn't need to do more that a tweak or two.

Should be ready tomorrow morning. We'll see
