New drive concept...test run

I think that I am getting very close to a drive that is both very fat, very smooth or hairy, can go from very little drive to alot of drive with a good solid amplike punch, can be both dynamic and responsive, draw out the best in my fave amps too.
Do take in mind that this is done on my homeamp, with a lowgain humbucker and no tubes, now imagine this one a real tube amp with good speakers...
This one got me abit floored right now:eek13: :fingersx:
Even the boss looked somewhat perplexed;)
This is for you players who loves to tweak as well as playing:D
Me and my productionchief has been tinkering with this setup for a few years now, the plexi with the more metalpanel like sound uses this method as well, here I went for a more general drive, I went for fat and clear, it brings out your amps voice, on the Hiwatt this one was mindnumbing at best...I am still slightly dazed by that sound.
:smack: hehe
Sorry for the long post...I am abit worked up over this one:D

Re: New drive concept...test run

ATTENTION MR. MARTIN!!!! This one kicks some series bootay!!!! :laugh2:

Nice and crunchy. I could have fun with that circuit. My frankenstrat would probably give a pretty convincing classic VH sound through it...hehehe.

Re: New drive concept...test run

Thanks guys.
It follows the amp of choice pretty close, on my Hiwatt I almost got scared of it.
It was giving that big ole head a very serious run for its money, the 4x12 was thumping and giving that wooden roar a big Hiwatt does, and then some.
The openback Customshop 50 CM amp also loved it, the fun thing was that the V30's did not fart out, even with this much fatness, it was like that circuit was keeping the lows just tight enough, for a good fat lowend.
Even that no good POS Rivera R55 sounded positively decent for once...hehe I am never going to love those amps;)
I killed the old Selmer one more time...sigh it just got fixed.
Another old cap died, sounds that way.
Tommorow I am going to grind down that jcm900....hehehehehehe
It will probally shut down as it usually does, has a loose lead somewhere that I cannot find.
Well I am going to twist the arm of the boss on this one, it is to much fun to pass on...our Quattro uses some of the same stuff this one has.
Love the way it can go from almost nothing to a big fat tone.
I have a lowergain model as well, eventhough when the gainknob gets cranked it has plenty of gain too.
What I dig the most is that crrrck it has in the attack, when you hit the strings, and just a tiny bit of compression too, very tactile drive.
Damm I am obsessed:D
I love doing this...
Thanks for wanting to listen to my ramblings, sometimes I just feel so strange about all this, I am just a player who loves to get good sounds, and hopefully this is just seen as enthusiasm, because that is what it is, I love building these boxes:D

Re: New drive concept...test run

That thing sounds totally wicked! Covers the gamut and allows any style of playing you have in mind. Nice and tubey sounding too. This sounds like one heck of a drive and could eclipse the other designs out there by CM. Let us know if it hits the production line. I'd line up for this pedal and also for the JCM-800 knockoff as well.

It's the cleanest sounding distortion I've ever heard. No coloration of it's own it seems. If a Marshall Jackhammer is whiskey and the Plexidrive is rum, this pedal is everclear. It just adds straight fat sizzle with no color and definitely no odor. ;)

Re: New drive concept...test run

Thanks:)
It is wicked and fat.....it thumps the lows, but keep it round and nonmuddy.
Very clear, tried it with a friends lp today...works well that way too.
The lowgainer is something different from our normal stuff, fusion and blues wrecks may like that one;)

Well it was recorded ss here:)
:) Wow. Well, I thought my little Crate sounded good already. Ho Ho, I may have to have one of these. The boss would be smart to put it in production, especially if it made him do the old dog-tilted-head look...lol.

Are you playing your Highway 1 or your Kramer?
