New Edwards Les Paul in the house!!!!!

Well guys, 2007 has been a crappy year for me so far. I split up with my wife of 9 years and am in the throws of divorce. Because of this, I ain't been around here much so last week, I decided to get myself a 'cheer me up' present and scored a Edwards John Sykes Les Paul of Ebay. I got it from Katana Guitars and it was delivered from Japan to theUK in 6 days!!!

All I can say is wow!!!! This baby absolutely rocks!!! Quite simply the best Les Paul type guitar I've played, way better than the Gibbo Standard that I had and even better than my friends 1970's Customs.....it really is that good!!! I'm gonna sell of a few of my axes and get me a couple more, because for me, these are perfect. I ain't connected with a guitar so well!! Here's a few crappy pics (should have taken the film off the pickguard first though!!!!:9: )

Cool, good luck with it and all the other crap too.

Re: New Edwards Les Paul in the house!!!!!

splitting up with the wife must be hard dude. I hope the new guitar helps things out, it's a nice axe. What kind of duncans are in it?

They are Distortions. I've never used these before always favouring the Custom range, but once plugged into my Engl I was really surprised how warm and articulate they were. The whole package really kicks major butt!!!

Re: New Edwards Les Paul in the house!!!!!

That's really nice dude. Is the pickguard chrome or something metallic? It's cool looking. I seem to remember other Edwards having metallic guards before.

Anyways, awesome score! Sorry about the other stuff.

Re: New Edwards Les Paul in the house!!!!!

Congrats on the new axe, it looks great! Sorry to hear about all the other stuff. Hang in there man.

Re: New Edwards Les Paul in the house!!!!!

Congrats, Rocker35.
And welcome to the Edwards club.
Felloww JSer at that.

Here's mine.

I did put a different truss cover and toggle ring on mine.

This rings much nicer than the thin one that came stock.
That was really my only gripe (knit picking at that) on the whole guitar.

.

The pickguard is a mirrored piece of plexiglass.

Dude, I've been looking to get a E-LP-92SD for quite some time. It looks like this. I just don't know how to go about getting one. :/

Re: New Edwards Les Paul in the house!!!!!

Nothing cooler looking than a LP Custom....and with chrome! Too bad Gibson didn't do Customs in gold, nickel, or chrome. How does the neck feel compared to a Gibson 50's or 60's? In between?

Re: New Edwards Les Paul in the house!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your rough situation, but congrats on the cool new guitar.

I have two Edwards myself - both are great instruments and are awesome at what they were designed to do.

Kherman, I scored a new truss rod cover off ebay last night - great minds huh!!!:smokin:

How much did it cost in British pounds?

I was considering one... but i figured shipping and VAT would kick my ass.

mattt, it cost £353 + £63 shipping. Best bit was that Tak from Katana Guitars marked it down as a gift so it sailed through customs without any charge!!!

Joe, the neck is somewhere between a 50's and 60's Gibson profile - very comfortable. The frets are beautifully finished and the ebony board is silky smooth. An extremely comfortable neck indeed!!!

Re: New Edwards Les Paul in the house!!!!!

Very cool guys! I really love the Sykes model and have been into Sykes a lot lately. Some very cool classic video footage of John playing with Phil Lynott on YouTube.

I've been wondering about these Edwards guitars for some time. I've been a ESP man for several years now and started seeing the Edwards stuff popping up on Ebay when doing searches for ESP last year. I wasn't sure what to think about it. Didn't know if it was cheap crap or what. But it looks like it's top notch stuff. I will have to look into it now. Love that P90 Goldtop... yummay!

P.S. How long until Gibson sues Edwards? Those axes are pretty much dead ringers for real Gibsons...

Re: New Edwards Les Paul in the house!!!!!

Gibson can't sue Edwards, those are Japan only models, you have to get them from Japan (thanks internet!). Technically, they aren't supposed to be sold in the US, but I guess there is nothing wrong with contacting a store in Japan and having them send you one.
