Hey,
So, about a 2 years ago my brother asked me to help him find an acoustic guitar. I looked in the classifieds and found a Yamaha fg336. All the info I could find was that these were made in the '70s, are now discontinued, are made of laminated mahogany and spruce top... they also are obviously copies of the Gibson Hummingbird. So the seller was nice enough to come to my place so I could have a look at it and damn... it was a nice guitar and it sounded HUGE and really really great. I honestly couldn't believe how nice and full it sounded. Fastforward to last week, my brother told me he wanted to sell it. I just couldn't resist and bought it from him.
The guitar is still awesome sounding but the case was practically dead: the bottom was now almost apart from the rest of the case, which my brother tried to cure with duct tape. So, I removed all the lining inside (which was quite ugly and smelled moldy), did a fiberglass job to the bottom of the case in order to rejoin everything solidly and put some new fake-fur inside. Now, since that thing is old as heck and will never be a museum piece, I decided to go funky with it and put some leopardish fur... Looks great IMO. I left the outside as is, except for some sanding and a little wood filler in some small places. It is and looks old... that's the way I like it... except now it's solid.
Enjoy the pics and tell me what you think. It's not perfect but it was my first try at revamping and repairing a case...I don't think I did specially bad.
