New Fender Modeling Amps?

Re: New Fender Modeling Amps?

i think i'm one of the few on here that likes to play with Fender's SS Combo designs, i own a few... As much as i love high quality tube amps i also love the SS stuff for around the house... I was never a big fan of any of Fender's DSP amps.... I own a 5 year old Stage 100 DSP head and it is noisy and use-less... Maybe the noise issue has been addressed now that this FM212DSP amp is a modeler. most modelers have some good NR built in...

But for the money in this price range i think the 50 watt 1x12 VOX modeler is still a way better buy then this Fender would be...

Re: New Fender Modeling Amps?

I never cared for the CyberTwin, too expensive and complicated. Now I see they have a new FM 212 DSP. I know it's SS and a Modeling amp but it has a decent price tag on it and simpler controls. Has anyone tried one?

I Owned the first version CT for 2 years and never felt it was at all complicated actually, but I sold mine cause the Vox Valvetronix head was oh so much better sounding!

I still love my Valvetronix VTH 120 head...

Re: New Fender Modeling Amps?

I tried Fender's modeling amps. No matter what I did I couldn't get them to stop sounding like a Fender

Yea, I've heard great things about the Vox Valvetronix. I've always like the Cube amps from Roland but the Vox amps have more options.

Re: New Fender Modeling Amps?

Personally, I absolutely hate modelling amps with a passion. They always feel so single ended, like even if the sound is right to my ears, there's no interaction between me and the amp.

That said, even I have to admit that Vox OWNS the modelling arena right now. They're the only ones that sound and feel a little more organic. I still would rather have a tube pre any day, but they do sound good.

Re: New Fender Modeling Amps?

I have a first gen. Cybertwin, and it is pretty good at modelling other Fenders, and the effects are pretty solid. It's great for around the house stuff, and it's quite straightforward.

I'm surprised that more forum bros don't have experience with it.

The clean Fender tones in the CT were great and I gigged with mine alot before getting the VTH 120 Vox....The british overdriven type tones were always a compromise and I found that by using pedals through a fat clean tone was better...

The avatar photo of me might be my CT,but I think it's my 66 BF Pro Reverb?

The Vox is the shiznit!!!! I played Gr8scotts and I was damn surprised and I went into it with low expectations! Also, they are affordable for low budget folks too!!! Probally the best bang for the buck out there by far as far as amps!!!

Re: New Fender Modeling Amps?

TheOdie's expectations were lower than low. He was expecting to tell me that I had bought another dog of an amp that he hates when I brought it in. This amp loves Vintage 30's and Emi Red Fang speakers.
