Fuzzy. Guitars
I have gotten a few nice fuzzy items recently...thought I'd share.
I picked up a Fulltone Octafuzz when I heard that they were getting rid of the old box (I like big pedals best!) and it's amazing. Knocked the Octron off my board (notbetter just different) and the fuzz alone setting KILLS. There is a picture of mine on my most recent board in a recent thread but if you;ve seen one Octafuzz you've seen them all!
I also picked up an AnalogMan Astrotone Fuzz which is quite cool...silicon but low gain and very distortion like up till the last bit of drive.
I also picked up this odd Fuzz Face copy, looks like it was made in Japan in the late 70's maybe...nothing at all to do with Arbiter, Crest or Dunlop but very neat, germanium and higher gain than a vintage Arbiter unit...great tone too, thick and smokey!
Also picked up a BMF effects Purple Nurple. Scott sells these as an Overdrive but the range of gain goes from a very lightly crunchy sort of Keef tone to a thick distortion and then goes WAY past Fuzz Face gain and is has plenty of voluem on tap and makes a MASSIVE boost as well.
Very unique and useable pedal, makes a GREAT team when paired with a nice Tubescreamer. Actually the mid to high gain settings sort of sond like a Fuzz Face but it is easier to use...works with wah pedals, no tranny issues and loads of sustain...the knob settingts you see are very loud and the gain where it is is a little more than my NKT275 Fuzz Face on MAX!
