Nice! I am not so sure about that double-cut, though. I know it is hard to avoid something like a PRS shape, but that one looks like they aren't done cutting. Also, I wonder why there is no new Gibson Memphis (archtops) for 2017....

Oh yippee... given the QC I've seen from Gibson lately I think that stuff will be getting a miss, especially at those absurd prices.

Also, WTF is the point of a Firebird with PAFs?

They need to cut away bit more to get that 22nd fret access.

The painted over doesn't look horrendous, but nothing I'd buy.

But its still more relevant and accurate to the original tone than the 21K fire-breathing ceramic pickups that are in practically all current 'birds.

Who is Kerry and why does his color suck? Did Gibson ever do spray overs? Fender actually did sunbursts on everything then sprayed custom colors over em sometimes. Never heard of that at gibson

It looks like a more moderate M-III.

I love firebird but that one does nothing for me. Black and gold just isn't my thing.

True story... the stock pickups in my FB were literally the worst thing in the world. All the same... if you're gonna buy a FB, don't you kinda want it to sound like one? It's like people who buy a Telecaster with a humbucking bridge pickup. C'mon man... that classic bridge pickups sound is the whole point of a Tele. You don't buy one for any other reason...

Did Gibson ever do spray overs?

I think they did with some Goldtops but I wouldn't swear to it. I know they GT'd some cool flamed tops but not sure they were finished first.


That FB Custom reminds of the one butnut did himself a few years ago

I do love the looks of the Explorer as Id really like one with the block inlays, but not for that kinda money.. I had to laugh when they said taking it to "new sonic territory".. yet they are using the same old crummy pickups they have used for years.
At least come up with a special pickup for a special run... sheesh..

I like the look of that Explorer, but have heard nothing but horror stories of recent QC. Also not digging the "Richlite" fingerboards. At least my Explorer has real ebony.

I love them! If I was in a touring band big enough to justify it (i.e. Made enough money) I'd order that Explorer, V and Les Paul for the next tour.

Actually I've GASsed for a Custom Explorer and V for the better part of a decade. Probably won't be able to swing either though unfortunately.
