ESP LTD EC-401V

DMZ PAF 36th Anniversaries

Nicely constructed, sounds great, feels great.

Neck width is a little narrow for my liking (42mm) but I’ll manage.

While the PAF in the bridge is great, I’m gonna put in a Super Distortion for some more oomph.

I also ordered some vintage Gibson style gold top hat knobs to replace the stock chrome ones.

It sure is a real nice looking guitar and a great outdoor photos...picture postcard perfect. The gold top hat knobs would really spice the guitar up.

First off, congrats! Those EC-1000 series (or whatever level) are just great guitars period. And with a PAF and a SuperD? I can already hear the chorus to More Than A Feeling echoing through the hills!!!

Actually not too bad in this valley. It’s consistently 5-10° warmer here than the surrounding areas.


Back to guitars, I think i’m gonna also buy a PRS SE 245 and keep the one I like best.

Everything about this Ltd is well above what I paid for it, but damn I have fat fingers and the 42mm neck is more apparent than I anticipated.

I love the look of those LTDs... I half want to get three of them loaded with different pickup options for the price of a single Gibson... a Goldtop, a Burst and a Black custom...

I wish I had known about this model sooner. I don't like the 24 fret on the 1000 models. And the Dimarzios are nice, and I love a gold top. Let me know if you ever decide to sell this one.

EC-1000T
EC-400VF
EC-400AT
Above EC-401V?

If I keep it, I may put a Super Distortion in the bridge.
Nothing else needs upgrading. It’s a quality piece!
