Really cool little amp. Powerful. Sounds huge through the V3 4x12 cab with v30's.
Through the Jet City, which I have loaded with Carvin gt12-16s, it has a very bright top end. I had to back the presence and treble controls to around 9 O'clock. So, I may swap out those speakers to maybe WGS Reaper HPs. May also swap the Chinese tubes out JJs. Possibly ECC803s for the preamp tubes. That may warm it up a bit. Otherwise, I like what I'm hearing so far. The built in effects are pretty decent.
I like that it's midi.
Has a good noise gate on it.
Built in redbox.
Auto biasing circuitry built in. So, no need for a multi meter.
Built in power soak. 1w,5w,18w,36w. That actually works. 1w is quiet. 36w is loud.
As long as your cab is in between 8 and 16 ohms, it auto recognizes it.
Tonally right now I would say it's more mordern than vintage sounding. Very clean and crisp. More of a Hi Fi quality to it. It'll rip your face off.

That blue light make me feel tingly in my pants….

Awesome.

Recently voted "Amp Most Likely to be Mistaken for a Neon Sign".

And I like it. It's one of the things I liked about my TM18AV when I bought it. I love these amps. They're real amps with a personality of their own, instead of just copying something else.

Re: New Grandmeister Day

lots of features - I like the auto biasing and that it recognizes the impedance. always heard good things about the redbox, so cool that's in there too!

Re: New Grandmeister Day

Does it really recognize the impedance, or is it just safe with impedances 8-16 Ohms?

Re: New Grandmeister Day

Thanks, everyone.

Pigbacon, Can't say for sure. But, the V3 4x12 is 16 ohms mono. JC is 8 ohms mono. I didn't notice a volume drop when connecting to the V3 cab.
So, I'm assuming it's recognizing something. Most amps usually have separate ohm jacks for impedance as to not damage the amp.

Re: New Grandmeister Day

The GM is a great amp. I gigged one with a 4x12 in an outdoor venue and wasn't though the PA. It was plenty loud and sounded great. The next show I did with it was an auditorium, where I just ran DI out straight to the FOH and it sounded great there as well. You couldn't ask for a more versatile amp, or one that truly has everything but the kitchen sink. For OD tones I used the Ultra channel, and just varied the gain for different needs. The Ultra channel just had a bigger voice than the other two OD channels. Which is why the GM is a better sounding amp than the Tubemeisters IMO.

Re: New Grandmeister Day

How's that V3?

Rand-o, I actually like the V3. It's a modern sounding amp compared to the X100b which has a more classic amp sound.
The V3 is loaded with Svetlana 6L6 power tubes and Groove Tube 12ax7s. Again, the 4x12 is loaded with Celestion V30 instead of the G12t-75's. (Carvin originally offered 3 speaker choices with the V3 cabs. Carvin gt12-16,Celestion V30 or G12t-75). I think the mixture of 6L6 s and v30's helped smooth out the amp compared to a EL34/G12t-75 combination which some say makes the amp sound fizzy. I don't have a fizz issue.

Awesome to know , Red.
good to hear others are having great results with their Meisters.

Re: New Grandmeister Day

Congrats! Yeah, Ive been wanting one of these since they came out with the Tubemiester series. Just havent been able to play one of the 36s. Then the GM came out and the GAS intensified.

Re: New Grandmeister Day

Thanks, Bloodrose. I just kept an eye out for one to pop up locally used. Picked the GM,carry case, cords, foot controller and a madison 2x12 cab(with L6 speakers) for $900 off Craigs list. The Madison cab will just get thrown back on there. Not on the same level as the Jet City or Carvin cabs.
I thought that was pretty good considering the GM with foot controller sells new for around $1400.

Re: New Grandmeister Day

Oh yeah! Heckuva deal! Especially considering your gonna get more back.. Like a rebate...haha

Re: New Grandmeister Day

Yep, that's the way I see it too. That's why I jumped on this one right away. I have my little envelope that I put a bit of guitar/gear money into each month. That way when something does pop up, I have something to put towards it, and the wife can't get mad. :D

Re: New Grandmeister Day

Nice score! Actually the GM36 will be my next amp, assoon as I sell my Line6 DT 25 112 and its extension cab.

Not that I'm unhappymwith the sounds I get from it, it's just that a good sounding, light, fully programmable valve head is too good to pass along.

Have you tried it with speakers other than the V30's ? The user reviews state that it sounds a bit shrill, which is my main concern regarding the amp, since I get warm tones from my current setup.

Re: New Grandmeister Day

Not really. 4x12 has the V30's and the 2x12 has the Carvin GT12-6's which are similar to V30's. I'm thinking about trying a couple of WGS Reaper HP's in the 2x12. I heard they're work well with the Meister series to tame the highs. I've also heard that some guys like to use Greenbacks or Creambacks.
