New Guitar 86' Charvel...I keep hitting the volume pot!

I have played Fender Strats, ESPs, LPs, and recently picked up an 86' Charvel Model 2. It looks a little like my 84 Kramer Baretta...but with subtle differences..like the volume pot!

The volume pot on my Kramer is lower/back towards the floyd or at the bottom corner of the PUP frame. The Charvel volume pot is near the center of the PUP frame...which means when I down stroke I am hitting the volume knob and it is turning down. By time I get to the solo in a song, if I don't check the volume knob, it is turned down.

I tend to fan my hand when I pick ala Lynch/Demartini. I was going to relocate the volume pot, but don't want to put another hole in the body. I tried changing the way I pick..not happening after 20 years.

Is there a volume pot that has a detent when fully on, so that it won't turn down that easy when inadvertantly touched?

Thanks

Get a rubber washer from the hardware store, and stick it under the knob. It will provide some resistance that will reduce your problem with turning the volume down.

I had a similar problem with my strat. My strumming hand would occasionally make contact with the volume knob, eventually turning off all sound during a song.

All I did was remove the volume knob. Now, only the post is present. This allows me to still make volume adjustments, but won't move unless I do so intentionally.

Long story short: just remove the knob, leave the post. it won't turn unless you want it to.

That is why I moved the volume pot on my Charvel

so obvious I missed that option, but totally legit.

I will probably seriously consider this option as well. Did you plug the hole in the original location?

Just fukin secure it with a tape like Angus Young or glue it with krazy glue
