New Guitar and Bass Day! (plus a few other goodies)

Well for the most part...got the guitar about a week or 2 ago and the bass about 6 months ago, but I haven't posted about it yet so here we go!

Guitar:
1990 Ibanez RG550 in Lazer Blue

Made one month after I was born! Only had to replace the pickup switch (and had those knobs lying around). Few dings here and there but now that I got 'er dialed in she plays amazing. Truss rod cover is off as I'm going to bump up my guage again and will probably change the pickups out, but not for awhile at least. Never used to be a fan of ibanez necks but fell in love with this model awhile ago and have been getting along with it quite well...pure shred! Also, as an owner of many types of floyds (including OFR) I got to say this Ibanez Edge is definitely on par with the best, and might actually be the best out of all of mine...

Bass:

BC Rich N.J. Eagle. No idea on the year (and help here?) and I'm assuming maple neck through with koa wings. Badass II bridge looks like it was put on after and EMG's definitely aftermarket (whoever put them in wired them in series...turn down one pickup volume and everything drops...doh!). Got this thing for a steal and is one of the nicest playing basses I've played. not sure whether I'm going to keep the EMG's or just sell them and go passive, haven't had much opportunity to run it through a big rig.
So does anyone have more info on these or know how to date them? I've done some research but to no real avail. S/N A 3679

ANNND as an added bonus, picked this up yesterday for my Rack Rig...ever since playing my JCM800 regularly I realized the main thing missing in my rack rig was the oomph you get from a tube power amp. Any recommendations on tubes? 4x 6L6 and 3x12ax7. Currently loaded with Mesa's, thinking of going Sovtek or JJ's, can't afford the =C= like in my 800...

ANND one more bonus...got these delivered yesterday for my new projects, a bunch of B stock boxes from mammoth.

Nice. Rack tube power amps are the real deal.

Oh it most definitely will. I gig quite often and am involved in a few projects with one or two more on the horizon. The power amp was more of a 'necessity' (kind of..), I now have a decent bass for ever I need to fill in/ join somewhere as a bassist, and the guitar...well, we can't ever have too many right?

Made in Nagoya, Japan (hence the NJ) between 1984 and 1986. I can't do much better without a good shot of the back of the headstock (Serial number not helpful for this unfortunately). You're right that the bridge and pickups are aftermarket; the switch has also been removed as these were shipped stock as V/V/T with a 3-way. Original pickups would be made by Gotoh, probably Dimarzio copies as the NJ guitars from the same period used Gotoh made Super Distortion / PAF copies. Original bridge would probably be Gotoh as well, but I cannot remember as it's been a while since I've seen one of these. Possibily a copy of the original Badass which BC Rich used on their USA basses at the time.

Re: New Guitar and Bass Day! (plus a few other goodies)

Congratulations. I like 'em both. That seems kind of like Ibanez's take on Lake Placid blue, which I love on other people's guitars, but can't pull off myself. Hope you enjoy the guitars.
