New guitar build started...

New member
Started a new build, it's inspired by the charvel san dimas model. It's going to be a 5 piece mahogany, walnut neck through neck, mahogany body, ebony fretboard, floyd rose and a humbug kernel bridge and single at the neck

Awesome start!! Cant wait to see how it goes! Being a Charvel lover, Im especially intrigued. You say inspired by... but its gonna be neck thru.. So, Im guessing Charvel/strat body shape...? Charvel type neck carve??

Yes it's gonna be a strat body shape with a strat headstock, but the headstock will be angled back

Got the neck and headstock cut yesterday , gonna thickness plane the headstock today

Got a lot done, got the body clamped up, and cut out...it's moving a long quite nicely

Thumbs up already. It's looking really good already. The lam neck/center section is a nice touch.

Thanks guys, hopefully this weekend I'll get the contours done and the pickups routed

Got a lot done on the guitar, got the fretboard glued on, contours done, just need some fine tuning, also the floyd route and humbucker route..

That's looking really good so far. I like this guitar a lot because it has that classic Charvel style, but with a neck through and an angled headstock, which is an awesome touch.

Zebra bridge pickup and Chrome hardware??
Looks like it has some weight to it, is that fair to say?

Are you leaving the body and neck bare, or are you going to clear it? I'd leave the back of the neck bare, because I prefer that feel.

It's doesn't weigh that much, I routed a good size control cavity to releave some weight, I didn't want this thing that heavy. As for the color I'm gonna do the body in Olympic white and spray the reranch tinted clear to get that aged look to it, the neck is going clear satin, I will mask a nice line where the neck starts when I do the white. I am going with black hardware, with a bl l500xl in the bridge and a cool rails in the neck, and a push pull volume so I can split the bl.
