I just got this- Dean Modifier 8 string ML. Originally $699, I got it for $350 so I couldn't pass it up. Stock EMGs, mahogany body, ebony board. Nice entry into the world of down tuning

My only complaint is the pickups are very loud- Tomorrow Ill lower them to decrease the output and get more clarity- but they are very clear on the clean channel already. Or I could just turn the gain down on my amp

I started getting into Korn lately so I wanted a 7 string, but felt the 7th string didn't add enough range, and the 8 string neck is only a little bit wider than a 7. I have it down tuned a step too, making it even more evil. I'm not into the jazz style 8 string of Tony Abassi or the massive 2 hand tapping/ shredding I see with other 8 stringers out there, Ill save that for my EVH and Charvel, but for the chugga chugga this thing slays

Actually I just had to turn the presence and treble down a bit on my 5150 III amp to dial in this 8 string since the EMGs are very bright- now I got the perfect low end with clarity, and the pickups are very evenly voiced with clarity, handling clean tones as well.

At $699 it's on par with the Ibanez 8 strings Iron Label in this range though this Dean is made in Korea, whereas the Ibanez were made in Indonesia, but for 350 plus tax the guitar is unreal.

Very nice. I would like to play one of those for a little while. Maybe I'll see if guitar center has any 8 strings in stock. I hope you get some good use out of it. Rock on!

Korn is pretty fun to play! Especially the earlier stuff. 'Tis what I started doing on my new 7 too. :)

Mine: Changed to DiMarzio Ionizer & Eclipse (though they are, like, 1/4" outside the outer chords, but that's ok, as long as they are wider than the chords, so I've been explained), changed both volume pots to get them coil splits, and the tone pot to have the phasing on the bridge.
Of course, I had to do the entire re-wiring again.

What about you?
