New Guitar Day ES-335 Gibson Content W/ Sample

I played about (25 Twenty Five) ES-335s over the past month: New, Reissues, Vintage and Other Brands such as Collings and Heritage. The historic 50th Anniversary ES-335 Block VOS have been so incredibly dynamic and soulful as guitars go. I have felt right at home with everyone I have played but they had all been Cherry (which is sexy as hell unto itself) But I wanted burst.

I drove 425 miles to Dallas and back yesterday from Austin to play 2 more guitars. I had my choice from a Nashville Custom Shop Block or the Memphis 50th Ann. The Nashville was a bit more 'solid' feeling but this Memphis block (very period correct in design now) has this feel and touch and tone that was so soulful and right at home to me. Reminded me of the day I got my Nash. You just recognize the kindred energy when its there.

Cheers, RG

Although I'm not a fan of her looks she's got a beautiful voice, HNGD!!!

Wow that's a beauty!
I've been bitten by the semi-hollow bug lately (it's been a couple of years since I sold mine) but my amp-building sickness dictates that an epi is most likely in the cards...

One of the few guitars left on my "GAS" list.

Great guitar. I love the snappiness. You're right. It has a single coil quality. From the photo, it looks like the saddles are white rather than nickel. Is that true? Or just my eyes playing tricks on me?

Thank you! HNGD to me...! I should get myself a cake to boot.

Awesome clip and beautiful 335!
Cheers! Thanks for listening.

Don't do it!! LOL! Put the cash away as you can. The time goes fast. Its worth the wait. Seriously. Actually a 70s Ibanez or Heritage 535 are awesome options for a bit less. The 335's from Gibson are so hit/miss except the 63 block historics. They are spot on and so toneful~.

Yep...had me for 3 months LOL!

Looks and sounds SO sweet!!!
Cheers bro and thank you!

Cheers!

Beautiful. Sounds great too.
Thank you!

Nice score! And DUDE! Your voice is awesome!
LOL, thanks bro! I have been playing some blues and just started a new classic blues band here in Austin so Ill get a chance to get my vocal chops up in the next few months. Ill post something proper soon.

Thanks brother E. Na, your eyes are doing good. Those are nylon. As I said the 335tD historics from Memphis are seriously period correct in design, glue, electronics etc. I am so grateful and blessed.

^Nylon saddles?
I'm sure I've seen those before?
Bingo.

Thanks for the love gents! Appreciate it and appreciate you all!

Cheers,

RG

Nice playing, and a gorgeous guitar. There really is something special about a good 335. I bought my third one late last year, and there's about ten more I'm lusting for!

That's a beauty. I love mine and I have to say, it may be the best/easiest playing axe I have among all of them.

I'm sure you're absolutely right, however, I already have three great gibsons in my quiver and we're about to drop 23k on home renovations so this is absolutely not in the close future. I'll get there eventually but for now that's a big no. I managed to put a bit of cash aside for a new amp kit but it's nowhere near what's needed for a guitar such as this one. Plus, living where I do, there's not even one of these for 600miles... and no used ones for sure and I'm not ordering one without playing it first so yeah, while I fully agree with you, it's gonna be a good while...

Cheers and enjoy that thang!

I have a 1985 dot RI. I bout it a a guitar show in NYC about 20 years abo. It has the Tom Shaw pickups in it & it just sings. I also bought a 359 a few years ago and its sweet but not as sweet as my 335. The size restricts the tone a bit. Its somewhere in between a Les Paul & 335. Last year I had a Canadian builder named Brian Monty build me his version of a 335. His is all carved solid maple not laminated like a Gibson, and when I got it it was great but felt it was a bit bright, so I did my research and replaced the pickups with 57 classics and now it just sounds so sweet. The 335 I have is very similar to yours. Great guitar Good luck with it & great playing too!
