New Hard Tail For Fender Cabronita???

So, I don't know how much you guys know about this guitar & I don't say that because they are uncommon, I say it because finding the specks for it is proving to be almost imposable! It's just your run of the mill MIM Cabronita, two Tron style pups, a vol. knob, & a switch. It has, I guess you would call it a vintage style Hard Tail, on it now but I don't like it much & I'd like to replace it. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a nice upgraded Hard Tail that will be a direct replacement for what's in there now? Also, & this isn't a huge deal, the strings don't line up perfectly over the poles of the stock puppy's? I've heard of people changing the saddles to remedy this but if I could find a bridge that's a bit nicer than the stock one & gets the strings to fall where they should that would be even better!!! Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Re: New Hard Tail For Fender Cabronita???

You don't want to adjust the bridge to make the strings line up with the poles of the pup...you want to adjust the bridge to make the strings line up with the neck! Then adjust the pup to line up with the strings.

Re: New Hard Tail For Fender Cabronita???

I have the USA version of the same design. This features the same hardtail bridge as the American Standard Stratocaster. (Different saddles to MIM, wider string spacing, wider drilling pattern.) Things do not line up "perfectly" on that either. Still works.

Musical instruments are for producing sound. Why do people insist on appraising them by their appearance? :banghead:

Re: New Hard Tail For Fender Cabronita???

Gibsons generally don't have poles in line, Strats certainly don't.

So strings where they 'should be' is usually out of line. Given that Filtertrons came from guitars (Gretch) with a narrower string spacing and they are jacked into a fender with wider spacing I'd say problem like this are inevitable and just part of the guitar.
Plus, the strings should work with the neck spacing first and foremost.

If you need to have your strings over the poles irrespective, look for a custom pickup with wider pole spacing. I know places like The Creamery do filtertron clones and may well have a wider spacing.
