New Ibanez SA ..post pup swap test/jam!

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
Random jamming & switching between different pickup positions (bridge/neck/middle/notches) to try out the new pickups I just put in the new Ibby. (A Lace Alumitone Deathbucker in the bridge & a pair of single coils for the neck/middle from Rose pickups). Not trying to be tasteful here lol ...it's an all-out warty shredfest :D

The pickups seem to be balancing out nicely volume/level wise..& lots of useful tones. Had to lower the Deathbucker a little more than usual to match the singles, but it still sounds cool! The guitar plays like butter...love it!

Backing rhythm looped track (gtr/drms...no bass) recorded with my Zoom G1Xon multi-fx/looper. Solo overdubbed with my AMT Stonehead SS head (slight delay/reverb in the loop). Recorded with my crappy digital handheld recorder's line input as always haha. No pre/post production.

Re: New Ibanez SA ..post pup swap test/jam!

Only 5 minutes?! Going for pop song length now?! :D

The amp sounds good with that guitar. I just picked up a TC Ditto looper and have been incorporating it into my live stuff. I don't have room on my board for my big BOSS looper, though I have a crazy idea for a VERY long As Follows song that will use both of my loopers, and both of my sequencers. My goal will be to play the whole thing live in real-time and improvise so each time it will be different, then just pick the one I like best lol.

I like the neck sound on that guitar a lot. Nice pinch harmonics, too!

Thanks..yeah..just checked your video's out. You've been bitten by the killer loop pedal bug & now there's no return haha!

Thanks! It has a fat rocking sound...nice growl to it too. Yeah, I'm happy with the Rose pickups, very well made & they sound great. The Deathbucker in the bridge would probably overpower them if raised to the height it's recommended to be at, but I do like the way it sounds lowered a bit too...a bit more bluesy/vintagey & rock oriented. Overall, it's a a great mix of tones...and an awesome playing guitar..can't complain :D

Re: New Ibanez SA ..post pup swap test/jam!

Thanks..I really think so too. It's defined/articulate, but also quite fat sweet & warm...beautiful singing sustain too. All in all an excellent sounding & playing axe that's well surpassed my expectations. The new pickups are a great match... I can see myself spending a lot of time with it :)

Re: New Ibanez SA ..post pup swap test/jam!

Thanks! The guitar is very resonant, articulate & warm/sweet sounding & those pup's turned out to be a great match. I've always been interested in the SA series so I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger on one..they play so well..

Now with a "bass" track..

So what it lacks in timing, pitch, tone etc it makes up for in audiophile-grade hi-fidelity :laugh2:
