New Invader set day

What do you think of the look?
I got a matte black set. One had gold screws and the other gloss black. So, I mixed them!
Note the baseplate on the Trembucker: not the usual Trembucker one!

Re: New Invader set day

Were the golds tighter going into the other pup, and was the blacks looser going into the pup that came as gold?

The Gates tb-8 w/chrome screws have slightly more robust threading than the black screws, so the blacks are loose if you trade them out.

Looks great like that though. Happy chugging!

These shop-floor customs?

Actually, it was the opposite! The gold bridge screws that I moved to the neck are a bit loose. I need to add a little wax and I think that will solve it.
They were actually surplus from Schecter. Maybe they had flat black Invaders in mind for a future guitar and changed their mind.

Re: New Invader set day

I wanna see the 'overall' picture when they are installed in the guitar!

Re: New Invader set day

Yeah, definitely! Need to see final pics. Those would look amazing with some other gold hardware (bridge, tuners, knobs).

Re: New Invader set day

If that wax hasn't set the screws too tight, I might mess around with the color scheme on the pickups. A few ways I was thinking is this (B represents black, G is gold):

BGBGBG
GBGBGB

or

GGGBBB
BBBGGG

Yours look awesome, much better than stock. But hey, you know the two most important parts of being a guitar player, fixing what isn't broken, and telling other guitar players how we would do the same thing differently.

Re: New Invader set day

That's crazy.

I have to say, I'm not really all that convinced by my Invader set these days. The neck is definitely on the abrasive side but it's OK for what it is.
The bridge definitely does lack a bit of clarity, even if dialed way down.
Raised at it's "optimum" height it's just too much everything.

I love how chunky it is, but I could use some more clarity and bite. We'll see if I can tweak my way out of this one.

What guitar are they in and do you have a tone? (what value?)

Hey man. It's an Ibanez SZ320, sort of a poor man's PRS. String thru body, mahogany everything, fat body.
Yesterday I tweaked things a bit and I'm getting closer to what I want from it. 500k tone and volume pot.

My amp's kinda dark and compressed so it doesn't help and it loves bright pickups in fact.
