I've had 8 Les Pauls over the years but I parted with the last one back in 1980. I stumbled on this one while buying XLR cables for a PA system. Fell in love with it ... my wife was with me. We've always talked about picking up an LP if I ever found a really nice one. Well we talked it over at lunch after playing it and went back for it. I've played it twice live now and it's killer ... really pleased. Here she is:

The far edges seem a bit more black in the picture than they really are. Hard to get a good picture of the grain patterns as they appear with flash but room light seem to have this darkening effect. So the edges are really slightly more brown-ish than they appear here. The avatar (first picture taken with flash) is closer to the real color of the top. So you have to use your imagination ... a bit. But then you can see the grain in the top a bit easier. :)

Nice looking guitar. The finish looks like a TriBurst (though it's probably called something else). Certainly not a finish you see everyday.

The newer Traditionals I've played have all been really nice guitars.

Thanks ... as I mentioned ... it's more of a two tone finish ... you can see it better in the first picture with flash. But to capture the ripples in the grain finish, I took some of the other pictures w/o flash ... the seem to make the edges look more black than they really are. It's a standard Ice-Tea finish and looks very much like this stock photo with slightly more subdued grain in the top.

Compare this stock photo to my avatar (taken with flash) and you'll see what I mean ...

I actually dig the new traditionals, I think they play a lot nicer than the old standards. The 08 Standards I'm not too crazy for, but them traditionals are hot! congrats bro

Finally got a chance to take some pictures with natural light outside ... should have just waited to do that. These are pretty accurate. :)

the only thing i would change about the guitar is i would put an amber 3-way switch tip on there. makes it look more vintage

I have begun the "relicing" process ... but I like to add the years myself. While my 29 year old Yamaha SA2000 has lost much of it's gold down to the metal and it has belt buckle marks on the back, it is a fairly pristine axe. In fact, I've never seen one that age in better condition. So it may take a while ...

But it's not the destination ... it's the journey. My bandmembers were asking why I didn't pull out my shirt tail to cover the belt buckle and all ... man this is the beginning of the journey for a working guitar. When a couple of them questioned that thought, I can just point to the beautiful 29 year old across the room ... 'nuff said ... it's a working guitar.

And so it begins ... man I love it! :D

The only thing that I don't like is the angle of the strings on the bridge, looks like it's touching the back which could decrease the sustain. Have you ever tried wrapping the strings under and over the tail piece? I did this months ago after seeing Joe Bonamassa on youtube and it really made a big difference. I really like it and never looked back of the traditional way. Beautiful guitar dude !

I haven't tried that yet, I'll try that next time I restring.
