Re: New Leslie GAS
I would go for the G-27 (no amp), you do not need an amp in a Leslie if you are using it for guitar. But there is a lot to consider... We have a "real Leslie" that we converted for guitar. We got rid of the amp, replaced the 15" Jensen field coil, and replaced the compression driver up top. Now we can use it for anything (including vocals) that we want to. It sounds totally amazing, but it is big and hard to move around. We bought a Motion Sound Spin Doctor, again no amp, and it is foot switchable. This is an easier, smaller alternative, but is still like hauling another guitar amp. Everybody that plugs into these speakers just cannot believe how they sound. No pedal sounds like that, they can't. But when you take them out of a studio situation, all bets are off. The MS has an internal mic. but to me that does not sound as good as external mic'ing. I hate to say it, but a gigging guitar player (and others have said this already) will be better served by one of the many pedals available. It can be pretty difficult to capture the magic of the "Leslie's" on stage. If you are The Black Crowes, have a road/sound crew, do good sound checks on a decent size stage.... then yes you can make the magic work. Most of us are not in that position unfortunately.
IMHO
Good Luck
