New pedalboard I found in the trash!

:chairfall I saw an old broken down computer desk by the trash, and realized that a shelf would make a great pedalboard. I've been wanting a smaller board I can use for just a few pedals. It was gray, but I sanded it rough, then painted it with forest green paint. I might make some triangular wooden sides to angle it, and stain them amber. I even thought of putting lights underneath, so the light shines through the vent holes. Waddya think? Pretty cool for free, huh? :fingersx:
Later, when I finish it, and put some pedals on it, I'll post pics again.

I lost track of you thread about the LED's - still need help with that?

Re: New pedalboard I found in the trash!

That is a great idea. One thing I would try is using cable ties through the holes to hold things down instead of Velcro.

And while the lights underneath board would look really cool - I would be concerned about the contrast making it hard to see the pedals themselves - or at least the indicator LEDs.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing your finished product

I have a bag of lime green cable ties that are just skinny enough to fit through the holes. I'm going to use those to brace down all the cables. I'm still gonna go with industrial velcro, since all my pedals have that.

And Rich S, I'm still debating whether or not to backlight it. If I do, I might ask you a few questions.

What a lucky guy you are!

Yeah, I'm a bit nutty when it comes to this stuff. I was driving through an alley, and saw that broken desk. As soon as I saw the shelf, the idea of a pedalboard jumped into my head. I said "nah" and kept driving, then I looked down and saw my multi-allen wrench in my glove box, so I backed up, jumped out, and took the shelf off the desk. I saved the 4 allen bolts, so at least I have those to attach the two wooden sides. :fingersx:

Re: New pedalboard I found in the trash!

It's getting to the point that I need to follow suit. I have too many pedals that I enjoy using and I hate lugging them in a duffle bag and peicing them together when I move my amps to a new place to jam.

Do a pictoral of this mang. I wanna see her being built from the guts up.

Backlighting MIGHT work, but be avoid flourescents.

Edit: On second thought, what about rope lighting?????

Rope lighting can heat up a surprising amount over a couple of hours. If you want to make it look really sexy, wire up some LEDs and power them off of your power supply, so that as soon as you plug the board in everythign starts to glow. The LEDs will last forever, barely heat up, and give off some good light . . .
