New pedals day

Well, a week ago.

I was so stoked about getting a really good deal on a used Les Paul Studio on Black Friday, I forgot to post about the other stuff I bought.

I got two pedals used, an MXR Super Badass Distortion and a tc Hall of Fame Reverb.

The SB is quite a lot of fun. Nice "growly" distortion. I ran it in front of both an old Pro Junior and my HRDeville, and they both seemed to like it. It seemed to keep a lot of the tone of both the guitar and the amp in the overall sound, if that makes sense. (What's the saying, talking about music is like dancing about architecture?)

The Hall of Fame is a really nice reverb. Very quiet.

I've only been messing around with them a bit this week, kind of bought them on the spur of the moment (they were used and cheap) but I'm liking them.

Re: New pedals day

Have you messed with the TonePrint functionality at all?

I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my mini but it's pretty cool. Super Badass sounds nice as well.

Re: New pedals day

No I haven't yet. Need some proper time rather than the odd stolen half hour!

Re: New pedals day

MXR Super Badass Distortion = great or not ?
MXR 78 = ?
Is it worth buying used?

From my short experience with the Super Badass, it seems to be a pretty good "Marshall in a box". So it covers a lot of ground.

I'd say it's great, but I only know what I want it for. You'd probably have to be more specific.

The 78' custom Badass is the notorious dud of the two
I had the Super, it is smooth like overdrive, but with a distinct unmistakable distortion sound you'd expect.

I sold mine off, just this last week, to my local music shop
cuz it didn't "cut-through" as much as I expected in the mids, nor did it play well with my other pedals (delay, tremolo, wah).

On it's own, it's killer
Maybe with enough wattage, wide-open, it could compensate for the flaws
