New pedals! G&L and Mesa Boogie Content

Trying out some new pedals and revisiting my G&L Legacy Special and boogie dc-3, after the gig tonight i'm definitely not selling the boogie or G&L.

The G&L Legacy special worked so well with the DC-3 and was such a pleasure to play, such an easy to play and excellent sounding guitar, the legacy special is such a versatile instrument, the other guitarist tonight had a strat with stock single coils and the legacy special really could match the quack and air that the single coil strat was dishing out. When I wanted it to do silly gain and over the top shred nonsense it could do that in spades too.

New pedals were the wampler dual fusion which was just like having another amp channel, really touch responsive and sounded great, 2 channels, I set it up so channel 1 went into channel 2, I used CH 1 vintage as a mid gain solo drive, I used CH2 modern with the gain all the way down and as a clean solo boost, it really worked great, another very versatile OD that sounds class.

Mxr modified OD, basically a tube-screamer with bass control, worked really great in front of the boogie cleans.I really enjoyed this pedal doing the low to mid gain dirty blues, really smooth sounding and very touch sensitive on the lower gain settings.

The Blackstar HT-dual, I'd mentioned this pedal before and my thoughts haven't changed, channel 1 on this pedal is very amp-like , not quite as close as the wampler for feel, but still very very good, for me it's my marshall in a box pedal but really can be dialed in for anything, I really like this for marshall rock rhythm and it's another very versatile pedal with full bass mid and treble controls ,CH2 on this pedal does sound and feel very compressed and not very amp-like but does do the heavy distortion legato stuff easily, I'd like if this pedal could be modded for CH2 to be closer to CH1

Awesome stuff bro!

How are you liking the Mobius? I'm considering getting one for my classic rock cover band as a do it all modulation device (except for vibe, I have a Drybell Vibe Machine that I doubt any digital device can top). Care to offer an opinion?

Ah the mobius is a ridiculous piece of kit, its worth it alone for the chorus and rotary sounds from it, I absolutely love the vibe sounds from it,id recommend you check out all the videos on the strymon website they do a great Job capturing some of the millions if sounds from the pedal,I use the flanger and phaser on it too that nail anything in the realm of those effects. I play in a covers band too and there really isn't anything that I believe I can't nail with the mobius and what's on the pedalboard, maybe a talkbox and reverb pedal is all im missing from the complete setup. Ultimate versatility would probably add a looper/midi pedal so I could switch l pedals with a single button, but there's always more stuff to buy :)

Dog-gone-it! I wish you hadn't posted this! Now everybody is going to discover what a great guitar the Legacy Special is! The Gotoh Blades and Leo Fender's PTB tone control make this guitar very versatile. It can cop alnico single coil tones, or produce "woman tone" that sings like Santana through the Boogie. I have three of the LS models in my collection of G&Ls and they are favorites. Thanks for letting the secret out!

BTW, you've copied me! I have a DC-3 112 V-30 combo too! I often play one of my Mark Series amps at gigs, but the DC-3 sees lots of action too. It's great for gigs that are going to be low volume, as it is very warm. I can easily take it to a jam, and unless somebody has a Marshall Major full stack, I will have no problems being heard. If I want to get rowdy with it, I simply set it on top of my Boogie 112 EVM Theile cab. The Theile adds a lot of low-end punch and projection. With the Master hiked up, the cleans get liquid and chimey, while the Lead Channel shows off its Rectifier roots with the gain above 7.

So...I'm really glad you like the G&L/Boogie combination. I just feel bad for all the Strat guys, they'll be developing serious inadequacy complexes...it won't be pretty! So let's just keep this between us, okay?

Haha sorry Bill! :)

My combo actually has the G12t-75 in it that the previous owner swapped in, he said he didn't like the V30, he seemd a little crazy though :laugh2:
Honestly this amp can do any gig be it low or high volume, gigs I do always have a PA so my guitar amp is my personal monitor and the PA does the rest!

Ah I know I had up on the guitar forum that I was considering selling the G&L because I hadn't used it in so long, but after that gig I'll be using it a whole lot more!
Dunno what I was thinking :)

I'd like a Legacy Special to go alongside my Legacy, but I suspect that after my recent PRS purchase my other half won't be so keen! I love my Blackstar HT Dual into my JTM-45... It's like having a greatest hits of Marshall tone!
