New pedals that excite you

Re: New pedals that excite you

Though it's not new I'd still like a SunFace, then there's a few I'de like to try:
POG
Box of Rock
Rockett Alien echo and Allan Holdsworth drive and boost
whirlwind orange box
Strymon Flint and Ola

Re: New pedals that excite you

Not much exciting from me here but I've recently gotten a Digitech Bad Monkey for next to nothing and it works wonders for boosting the Crunch channel of my SLO Clone. More so than my usual old SD1 or my normal 'go to' OD the Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer.

I've also recently gotten a 10-band MXR EQ and that in the loop of my Splawn Quick Rod is fantastic. The amp is no slouch to begin with but the degree of extra control the EQ adds is great.

Up until a few years ago I was all about single channel amps and a large pedalboard and getting all of my tones from pedals. I even managed to find 2 OD pedals that I liked as the primary source of gain on a clean channel and used them almost religiously; the HBE Power Screamer and the G2D Custom Overdrive.

Since I completely rethought my rig 2 1/2 years ago I stripped back all the pedals but a wah and a tuner and got all my OD tones straight from the Splawn and I now don't really use any modulation FX either. Since then I've also added the SLO Clone to my rig and with that I do need a slight boost, and I've also started using a HBE Psilocybe Phaser infront of the SLO just for a bit of extra colour here and there.

I'm actually much preferring the tone I get with the 3 or 4 main 'core' pedals I'm now using and getting more from my amps instead of using a single channel amp and then 16 FX pedals for variations.

I was wondering how you ended up liking the MXR EQ with the Splawn? It makes a killer difference doesnt it?? Kinda like feeding it roids... (oh man, I GOTTA get some friggin tubes for my QR. I havent really heard it in 6 months..)

Re: New pedals that excite you

I try not to look at pedals too much or I start GASSing VERY badly.. I have limited funds and am trying Not to play with pedals and develop my chops. Hopefully, in the future I can get back into pedals to enhance my playing and not hide behind them as I did in the past. I recently downsized my board from running about 40 pedals to running 6-7. As far as new pedals that excite me, Im VERY interested in the AMT legend series and obviously a bunch of others. You all have given me enormous GAS with this thread.. haha

I recently picked up a ADA flanger reissue that Im trying to dial in and I modded my Vox wah. (tho Im still thinking I may love the Jerry Cantrell wah cuz of the voicing)

I've not actually managed to try it too much at volume as I blew a power valve :laugh2:

But the short time I did have with it gave me a really good impression of how useful that pedal will be.

I'd really like to try it with my SLO as I think it'd help with taming some of the Presence at volume, but the SLOs loop is +4 so can't try it as far as I know.

Re: New pedals that excite you

The Walrus Audio Voyager...it is my favorite OD to date. (with mabye the exception of the GSR) It has a very unique voice/flavor. It works very, very well in my rig and has definitely improved my tone and made me a better player by the variety of ways i use it.

I also really like the Earthquaker Devices Tone Job. It adds just a pinch of that something extra that i always wanted in my overall sound. I don't know how i ever got along without it!

Re: New pedals that excite you

I'm all about stuff I can build nowadays.

I love the Triangle Muff I just built... coupled with the voltage starve it's really a nice dist/fuzz.

My Tremolo is actually quite nice and double as a good boost.

My SHO boost (home-made of course) is still my go-to pedal

I bought a Mesa Bottle-Rocket which I must say I'm very surprised with. Love that thing!

But newer stuff: not really...
