New Pickguard Idea!!

Hey all~ I'm thinking 'bout a 2 p/u guard, bridge & middle, (no neck) & wiring for bridge, parallel, middle, & series,,, muy gránde & mucho más grande....

With smoke coming out of my ears, I now realize that it's the same as that olde Tele 4-way thang.... Am I going to need to do something to eliminate the series humming, & if so, how to do it with these pups, as opposed to how you'd typically wireTele's neck cover?? These are just bobbins & magnets...
Thnx

Make sure the body is shielded, for one. You might consider adding a dummy coil to switch in (either active or passive), too.

The use of a dummy coil has been used in a lot of guitars...in fact, it is the basis of SD's Stack design, where one smaller coil underneath the main 'sounding' coil cancels out the hum. Music Man does this by having what they call a 'Silent Circuit', which is a small cylindrical coil under the pickguard that uses a battery to cancel the hum when single coils are selected.

parallel and series wont really hum as long as the pups are rw/rp. the individual pups by themselves would of course, but i dont find that to be a problem 90% of the time. the fact there is no baseplate or cover just makes it easier, no need to run separate grounds for those things

Great news,,,, but why all the mention out there of this action necessary on Teles? Kenny ॐ

tele neck pups have a metal cover, tele bridge pups have a metal base plate. both of those are usually connected to the start? wire from the pup so if you are putting things in series, you need to run a separate ground for the metal cover/plate so its not connected to the coil
